Took his goal well. Very calm finish.
I know we're waiting on the inevitable decision but it's a real kick in the teeth especially when he's playing well at the moment. The fact he played for the senior team makes it worse than the Grealish saga. Brace yourself lads for the puke inducing PR statement where he's thanking the Irish underage and senior set up for all they've done, made him the player he is today etc etc

His positional play in midfield from a defensive perspective is exceptional for a lad of that age. If he stays at West Ham under Pelligrini for a couple of more seasons, he will have his pick of the clubs to go to if he wants.
I see he was linked with the likes of City recently. I think he'd be mad to go anytime soon. He's onto a good thing in the current West Ham setup.

Declan switching would definitely be of the 'dramatic' variety. Not many players have ever walked out of one senior international team to join another. There may have been players who had fallen out of favour at senior level and who were no longer being selected for squads and who then switched allegiance, but to just walk out of a senior team where you are wanted and are being selected to join another must be almost unprecedented.

Pellegrini sees him as integral. His maturity is unprecedented in a player of that age.

Typical he scores today . Just to add salt into the wounds before his announcement . A win against their London rivals , A first goal for him and a man of the match performance

He's not quick enough to play for a top 6 team as a defender so it's a strange decision from Southgate to say he sees him as a defender, especially as he's starting to establish himself as a very good holding midfielder.
Took his goal very well, and used the ball well throughout the game. It'll be a sickener to lose him when he makes the seemingly inevitable decision to defect.

Paddy Power odds are not indicative on anything in this situation.
Fairly sure this market falls under the term ‘novelty betting’. |

Yes, I read about that case before, but you could argue that a solitary friendly cap and then switching allegiance was just about understandable (the player could say he didn't like the set up or the manager etc and didn't feel comfortable). To be capped three times in succession over a period of months and just walk out to join another international side would clearly be unprecedented.
