Was in Cardiff twice last year for rugby world cup (yes I like football and rugby ) flights to Cardiff and Bristol were ridiculous prices. Flew in / out of Manchester and got the train down. Direct train with arriva Wales. Only thing is it takes about 3-4 hours depending on stops but plenty of time for cans!

Flights to Bristol is an option also bud. You can get a train or even a bus from Airport to Cardiff City Centre in about 90 mins.

As are Southampton and Birmingham Airports : Easily get to Cardiff on the train from both.
