The problem there is that they are the ones who have made the calendar more convoluted! There is so many things about it that don't add up.
The thing with this Nations League is that it doesn't need to have such a limited timeframe, it has a limited timeframe because they want to make it fit in with the Euros, which makes it more convoluted! And despite all this, we will still have absolutely pointless international friendlies to be played around it! Surely everybody is agreed that nobody learns anything from international friendly matches? Removing those dates completely would be better, replacing them with the Nations League would have been the logical idea, but it just feels like the idea is to subvert international football as UEFA is afraid of the top clubs breaking away and, let's be honest, that's where the money is. |

The problem I have with the format is that it's only rewarding to teams in Pot A.
The way it should work really is everyone gets into the next round regardless if you finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd but the round you enter in depends which position you finish in. A bit like how in English domestic cups EPL/Championship teams enter the FA Cup in the 3rd round, whereas you could have the team who finishes top enter in Round 3, 2nd in Round 2 and bottom in the 1st round. It wipes out the need for International friendlies entirely and makes every game matter as it rewards teams who win with less games to play.

if this is a success, fifa may look at a similar format during world cup qualifing so we could play teams outside of europe home and away as part as a world nations league. When was the last time we played a game outside of north america or europe excluding the world cup in 2002

For those of you counting down the days to this match it is only 7 weeks and 1 day until most people fly over for the night before the match.
It was 7 weeks and 1 day ago that we played France in the p*ssing rain. That doesn't seem that long ago.
