Him and Jack Byrne are drinking partners. Terrible behavior

They’ll be roommates for the two games I’m sure.

The mini fridge in that room will take a fierce hammering.

Given that Connolly is 19 and Parrott is 17, bar something completely out of the ordinary happening Connolly was always going to get called up before Parrott.

99% of managers would of course pluck for the kid who's 19 over a 17 year old if you could say both were of similar ability and promise, it would be silly to suggest otherwise.

The signs were pretty clear that Connolly was going to be in the frame for Brighton (just a few examples)

- Potter is a lot more attack minded than Houghton
- Brighton shipped out two strikers in the transfer window
- Connolly wasn't given a loan move

Tbf I presume all our lads who played today are off untill they meet up with the Irish squad on Monday and don't have a potential game again until next Saturday. No harm in a bit of a session tonight as long as they don't drive home.
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.

They wanted him starting
I like plenty more never said they wanted him in the squad and to play the role he had being doing for Brighton and come on in the last 20 minutes for us and be a goal threat because at worst he would be equal to what we all ready have

Interesting point on the radio yesterday the game before he joined Luton on loan last year there was representatives from 40 out of the 44 league 1&2 clubs to see him just shows what potential people in the know taught about him.

Yet old Mick had to wait for one of our big players in Ronan Curtis to get injured before he would call him in

You have to remember the O’Leary , Lawrenson and McGrath were shunted all over the pitch to accommodate mccarthy at centre half. So maybe mick isn’t looking at ability first himself.i Know we don’t have them choices now But surely talented youngsters should be fast tracked instead of journeymen like hogan who in his one good season basically told us to piss off.

Lads it's clear as day that McCarthy selects his squad based on personal relationships he has with players.

He has done a good job in breeding team spirit into a team that has been completely devoid of it over the past eighteen months.

There's a clear argument to be made that Mick doesn't pick what is actually our strongest 23 man squad (on paper) but to be fair we've done OK so far and lets hope it continues.

Judge, Curtis, Hogan, McClean and even Richard Keogh are probably inferior players to say James McCarthy, Brady, Long and Clark, however, there is much of a muchness between the majority of the players in our squad and I think that's why Mick sticks with what he knows.

With that being said, we have no match winner in the team and haven't had one since Robbie Keane.

It's early days for Connolly but he has certain attributes (potentially game winning) that will make it hard for Mick to ignore him.

I expect him to play a part in the next two games.

He ran riot in a game yesterday against a team of extremely talented players. (Granted Spurs are going through a bad patch).

Our strikers don't score anyway - there is very little risk for Mick in giving Connolly twenty minutes if it's 0-0 approaching the twenty minute mark in Tbilisi.

In fact, I can see Mick loving the idea of lumping it up to James Collins who can head it in behind for Connolly.

He wasn't even drinking in his instagram posts. He can go to a party and not drink. Wouldnt bother me either way, he is a 19 year old with his next game, one which he might not even play in a week away.

That was quite clearly a joke in reference to the whole Jack Byrne being a raging-alcho discussion that was going on during the week...
