Wow - kind of shocked by this one. Always saw him as a serious prospect at United. Celtic will only be worthwhile if he can get actual game time. Being able to play in all full back/wing back and centre back positions will hopefully put him in a good place
You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:

Mad that United have let him go.  By all accounts they were very impressed with him.

Cieran Dunne signed for Sunderland following his release by Falkirk.

This is only a good move for O'Connor if he's going straight into the Celtic first team. Hope he doesn't get dicked about like Luca Connell has been

Coffey, Afolabi, Connell, Okoflex and O'Connor, a few too many eggs in the one basket I'd say.

Or maybe just hyped up on YBIG like Ryan Nolan because he is Irish and played for a big glamour club. If Man U rated him that highly they'd not be giving him away

Wasn't just on here, there's been a few articles published online with the up and coming players etc and he was usually listed. Trained with the first team regularly as well.

Hope the move works out for him anyway and that he gets a shot at the celtic first team in the near future.

Not in this case, honestly. Make your own judgement and watch him for yourself. He’s a very good player.

One thing is I guess he’s too small to be a centre back and that’s what utd saw him as.

Very lazy "hyped on YBIG" comment above. Anyone who's seen him should be able see what a good footballer he is. Really intelligent and tenacious. Wouldn't be the first good player to leave a massive English club at his age.
Geremi has let Kilbane in here, cross comes out to Holland, 1:1!!

Sounds like this. He’s apparently a RB if he makes a senior squad and United allegedly have a better one in their youth team, which is why he’s been playing CB for them. Probably a good move for him to hopefully be able to focus on the position he’ll play longer term in.

Ah good aul Ybig, where if a player dosent make it at one of the worlds biggest clubs at 19  he is clearly useless and will never amount to anything in the game. Beyond clueless.

Great move for him. Never going to make the 1st team at United when they have just spent £50m on a right back. Even if he did get past Wan Bissaka, making your debut in such a poor side as United currently have is not the best place for a young player to be given the time to develop. He will have a chance of getting 1st team football at Celtic where the right back position is up for grabs, and one of his contenders is a loan player from Stoke.

I always think it is better for Irish players to leave a big club like Man Utd, City or Liverpool. They get to benefit from the excellent training, coaching and facilities as a youngster, but then they need to get away asap if they want 1st team football. Even a player as talented as Phil Foden is not getting a regular spot at Man City. O'Connor could make a name for himself at Celtic and move onto a better league having played 100-150 league games, having experience of winning trophies and playing in Europe.
