Not a fan of how it's being published in the media

Sky Sports for example Big yellow Banner "DUBLIN STRIPPED OF EURO GAMES"

Stripped makes it sound like it was done as a punishment when in fact it was a decision by the Government to not put any more of the population at risk. As I said before the insistence of UEFA that there needed to be a certain percentage of fans at games (Probably the capacity needed for them to break even or make a profit) was horrendous and showed they don't care about the health and safety of not only the fans but the players.

If come the end of June and start of July there is a spike in cases around Europe then will the decision from Government to keep us safe be derided.

Yeah would require Croke Park to be the bidder
Its a ridiculous idea to have an organisation who openly detested football for so long, to bid for one of the biggest football games in Europe. Much better stadiums across Europe that are actually for football

does anyone care Dublin won’t be hosting this.  No fans traveling over and very little open and Ireland not there.

There is a completely other way to look at this. It's a huge loss to the economy in Ireland, hotels, private coach companies, bars and restaurants. The Irish government has essentially said Ireland is closed. This insistence on an ineffective hotel quarantine, that can be bypassed via the 500km land border on the Island.
There isn't going to be another spike due to the effectiveness of the vaccines. By June/July the EU travel 'passport' will be in place and families/friends will be reconnected across Europe.
The EU updated its guidance yesterday evening for those who have already been vaccinated also, social distancing/face masks will be gone by July. Simply look at US.

Dublins loss, is Londons gain. Sadly there will be no buzz about Dublin, simply more fans in London.

Given that we're not in the tournament. Given that we're still in a lockdown. Given that we can't see her own local teams play. Given that my own kids can't even play a match. I don't think many people in Ireland will shed a tear over this.

Not in the slightest bit bothered.

I'd prefer 100k vaccinated in the Aviva then some 10k filled games with very little buzz about the city
It would damage this forums' reputation

Google it. India had crushed the virus better than Ireland ever had, they then relaxed things and the hospitals are collapsing now. It's a warning how quickly things can change

That's simply false. India began dismantling Covid centres, easing social distancing and lockdown centres in January. When they hadn't rolled out the vaccine as efficiently as the UK/USA/Israel. As of a week ago, 1% of India was vaccinated. UK/Israel 50%+...
The difference from 18 months ago and today is a number of highly effective vaccines, that a percentage of people want to simply ignore and spread fear. Vaccines end this pandemic, the NHS isn't close to be overwhelmed yet pubs are open. The killer pubs. 18 Deaths in the UK yesterday (Within 28 days of a positive covid case, so lets not rule out lightning hitting an individual) and 0 in Israel.

Looks like the FAI may have been assured of a Europa final as consolation

I'm not too bothered we lost games but being the only country not to be able to commit to having even just the local people filling the 11000 seats is for me just another example of the leaders leaning too heavily on the side caution vs. opening back up.
We are in the longest lockdown out of all of the countries and an island with hotel quatentines but yet we say due to the health situation we can't.

Now if they came out and say the conditions to hand over the stadium would impact our vaccination rollout then for sure I can get more behind that

far more important that we get people vaccined and businesses opened up and cancer screening happening and kids playing sports and adults playing sports and people attending LOI and GAA matches in my opinion.  This is far down the food chain in levels of
Importance imo.

Not too bothered by it either.
Sure we'll be hosting the Worl Cup in 9 years time, so I'll just wait for that.

This. New strains of Covid are getting here by people traveling and even without tickets and told not to come, fans of participating countries would travel here.

Is the correct answer.
Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

Bill O'Herlihy: Ah ye can't be saying that now Eamonn
