Unsure about the library but stadium looks class. Hopefully there’s no more delays. Fair play to the clubs & DCC

Looks very good, save for the pitch seeming to be too far form the stands.
Why is no terrace being put in?

Agreed, lack of terracing is a shame.

Is all seater a UEFA cat C requirement? No mention of a bar either in those plans!!

Terracing still up for discussion behind the goals but UEFA requirements are an issue.
There will be corporate bar facilities far as I'm aware and should be at least a members bar as well. Nitty gritty of design is still being discussed.

Think DCC are moving the existing library from Phibsboro into the new site. Part of the community element.

how long would this take to complete? Realistically are we talking 3 years out on an optimistic side?

Could they not just have built a three thousand seater stand on the Connaught St side? Tolka and Dalymount have pubs, they should be allowed keep them.

The pitch is being rotated 80° and the shopping centre is also being redeveloped so keeping the Jodi and building on Connaught St wasn't viable. That option was examined but there's more room for the concourse and plaza this way. There will be a bar in the ground using the existing licence for the site, it wasn't going to be front and centre on a DCC planning video though, that was always going to concentrate on that community and community elements. I don't know what's happening the Tolka licence.

Can I be a slightly negative voice and say the design of the stadium doesn't show too much imagination ??
It will still a great resource and hopefully encourage some more people to come back to watch the league when it's finished, which can only be a good thing.

I'll be delighted when this new dalyer is built, as
going there has been a real pain in the hole since the shopping centre end
was closed, and then the connacht st side. The shed in it's current state is just an awful place for a game, most of it's below pitch level. Shels look very much the junior partner looking at that video. I heard something about the GAA getting land at the archbishops palace, so I wouldn't be surprised if they end up getting their hands on Tolka too. Edited by Tony Cousins - 12 Oct 2018 at 10:58am |
