Decent game, congrats to Dundalk.
Won 5 of the last 6 titles, surely they can put a small stand behind the goal on the right hand side looking from the camera side?
"Tell them to get out there and give it all they got and win just one for the Zipper. I don't know where I'll be then, Doc," he said, "but I won't smell too good, that's for sure."

Worthy champs. Best team by quite a distance.

No chance the currents owners will do any notable redevelopment of Oriel. They’re there to make money not spend it

Yes when they reach the champions league in 2040. Until then no.
And they've won another 20 titles in a row. The league could really do with a few new winners.

As said here already worthy champions and congratulations to them and hope the fans enjoy it but a few points what do the general sporting public of Dundalk expect from Dundalk FC, a lot of empty spaces around the ground (excluding the away section, that's another story) their club is on the crest of completing a domestic treble and yet couldn't sell out their ground tonight. I know those areas were open to the poor weather but still! For me Peake 6 have a few decisions to make, are they happy with the current investment or are they going to try and take it to the next level ie seriously competing for the europa league group stages. The people in Dundalk seem to be taking their domestic success for granted and could end getting bored of it. Time to take the club to the next level.....

I’m not sure anybody in the LOO is in a position to be throwing stones about attendance figures! What was Cork City’s average this season? Only about ten times the population of Dundalk on their doorstep too!

The attendance was just over 3600.

Based on the article below the capacity is 4500. You got to ask why this wasn't sold out? doesn't look good at all.

You can't mix GAA and football stadiums as the pitch size differs so much.  Croke Park looked a bit ridiculous but Pairc Ui Chaoimh looked even worse when they played football there.  (Whose idiotic decision it was to make the pitch oversize???).  Anyway 12,000 is too big for Dundalk on a weekly basis.  I say redevelop Oriel if possible.

A GAA pitch has to be minimum 130m long (65m line at the halfway line) and 80m wide.

A soccer pitch has to be rectangular and can be anywhere between 90m and 120m long and 45m and 90m wide (but can't be square, so can't be 90m x 90m). However, for UEFA purposes (so let's use that), the pitch should be exactly 105m long by 68m wide.

Even with the smallest gaa pitch, the sidelines on a UEFA sized soccer pitch will be 6m in and the bylines will be 12.5m in.

It simply doesn't work.

Going by other interviews, i think they have thought of Louths ground for Europe (which wont happen as they are already in debt due to the Development Centre they built, which clubs are paying off amd they expect clubs to raise money for a ground too)

The plans for the new ground is only going to have 4000 seats wont be enough for Europe anyway.

As Mike Tracey said why would they build something themselves in Oriel when they dont own the land? Makes no financial sense

This is still less than a running track around the pitch. Personally I don't like tracks around the pitch and agree that a GAA pitch is too big for playing football on.

EDaragh Leahy supposedly on his way to you, great signing if true. Would’ve liked another season here but good luck to him.

Could be true alright, Massey is pushing on a bit and looks like Jarvis won't be offered a new deal if you believe the rumours after his trouble in the summer.
