Any suggestion of an equivalency between the Democratic and the Republican party now is preposterous. Edited by irishmufc - 17 Dec 2017 at 1:52am |

Joking aside he really is an international disgrace. Wouldn't be surprised if the UK abstained from voting given the presence of pro-Israel political groups there. |

Excellent comparison bud. People were told the earth was flat and the majority believed it. Similar to global warming today. Now carry on doing what your told and go away |

Have a read of that, focus on this part. This past October was the second warmest October on record -- and those records date back to the 1880s. The first 10 months of 2017 were, according to NASA, the second warmest 10 months ever -- second only to -- wait for it -- 2016. This year is likely to be among the three warmest years in almost 140 years of record-keeping, according to the Weather Channel. Of the eight warmest years ever, all have come since 1998, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. (The eight warmest years, in order: 2016, 2015, 2014, 2010, 2013, 2005, 2009 and 1998.)
You get the idea. All available evidence -- and there are 137 years of it! -- makes very, very, abundantly clear that the climate is changing. There's also this bit of fact: 97% of climate scientists who have published papers on climate change believe not only that the globe is warming but also that the warming is very likely due to human activity. |

Straight away I would query the fact that that study is based solely on records since 1880. Do you not think that’s conveniently leaving out a significant portion of time since year dot (which a lot of these studies conveniently do) ? Scientists can quite accurately estimate temperatures during the Ice age . If that’s the case why do a lot of the studies on global warming focus on temperatures in the last 150 years ? Obviuosly to show the impact of the Industrial Age but it’s ignoring the fact that there have been subtle and extreme rises and falls in temperature long before machines were created or aerosols were sprayed !!! Nonsense Bill !! Edited by BabbsBalls - 29 Dec 2017 at 1:19pm |

The studies being based on records since the 1880s can be explained by the fact that the records simply may not have been there, or of such poor quality they would add little to the studies. You are correct when you say there is interest in studying the effects of the industrial age, but implying that the studies are baseless because they apparently ignore previous climatic patterns is ridiculous. It's a well known fact among climatology that the planet goes through periods of warming and cooling. The reason why these studies focus on anthropogenic activity is that climatologists want to know to what extent are humans influencing climate change; to give you an example, global mean sea level has risen at a rate of about 1.7mm/year over the last two centuries, however, between 1993 and 2014, that rate accelerated to 3.2mm/yr. 87% of the observed change in sea level since 1970 has been due to human activity. |
