Oh right, thanks for clearing that one up. I'm glad the specify the side though, otherwise we'd never know.

Because it lets you know which half of the pitch it is in. I can't see how clarity is a bad thing from a commentator.

Judging by what I have seen of him on Quest and today on Final Score, we have the new Garth Crooks. Why does every single pundit have to talk about football like they are talking about world hunger? It's supposed to be fun! Serious fun, but fun!

Phil Brown on fighting talk this morning - " are Ireland leaving the EU with us or are they staying in?"
He got suitably sl*gged about it for the rest of the show.

He was dreadful on the EFL highlights again tonight, I hope he was pissed. The highlight was when he called Newport's FA Cup tie with Middlesbrough as 'eye-watering'.

Not exactly punditry related but Bein Sports is the worst sports channel going. They made a big deal all week about Mourinho being in studio for the Arsenal Chelsea game. He ends up in studio for about 10/15 minutes before the game (in contrast with Sky who will have the guest on MNF on before the game for a decent amount of time).
Then, to top it all off, the decide to continue interviewing him as the 2nd half is starting, so for the first 17 minutes of the 2nd half, the match is being shown on a small split screen in the corner with no commentary, while having to listen to Keys interviewing Mourinho about pointless stuff; the differences between the PL/footballers since he took over in 2004 to now, etc.

They've done well to keep him off MoTD for the last few years, but probably time for the BBC to completely jettison Mark Lawrenson at this stage. I actually felt bad for the main commentator who was stuck with him for the Chelsea-Sheff Wednesday game as he was a whole new level of atrociousness.
