Pats putting a tidy squad together.
Very frustrating for ordinary decent clubs that are working their arse off tbh. Some fella with a LOI hobby on the other side of the world decides he will open his cheque book this season and they are up and running without any graft at all.

Not really, more a general comment. Anyway there wasn't much chance of McCabe signing back when his buddy Lyttle left. Some of our fans glad he is gone, although I'd have kept him.

Ordinary decent clubs?? C'mon, we're all 'ordinary decent clubs'. Pats' owner Garrett Kelleher is a regular presence in Richmond Park. He is frequently seen there at matches. And the club is run by volunteers just like every other one. In fact, in terms of office/admin staff, Pats have fewer than Shamrock Rovers, Dundalk and probably Bohs.

If you’ve fewer admin than us pal, you’re in big trouble. The mighty ms.O’Neill is our admin.she does everything, how I have no idea but we’d be fecked without her

Will be interesting to see how Drennan gets on this season, has been banging them in during pre-season.

I say he will be banging them in for Pats, he was last year for Sligo Rovers once he found his feet and got match sharp. He will have a good pre-season behind him as well as plenty of creativity in Forrester, McCabe etc.

My point is that some clubs money doesn't just get handed to them. There is no financial fair play in the LOI by the way. Maybe Im frustrated, maybe I'm jealous. In a lot of ways it would be great if our club could pick up a phone to get a cash boost. In another way I think it could be the end of us in the long term. Maybe I'm wrong but its a house of cards and if/when it collapses, its very hard to get money in the door because you can't simply turn on hard graft/ fundraising. Good luck to Pats, I dont mind them at all tbh. Decent fans and always a good welcome in Richmond. I know its modern football to have the sugar daddy, and Im sure ye will enjoy this season with the squad that has been put together for ye. Success will come our way again I'm sure, maybe we will enjoy if that bit sweeter because we have earned every cent to get us there!!! Our AGM last night. Maybe these figures might explain our situation ( I think it shows nicely why Pats can refuse an invitation to the IRN Bru cup, but we can't) What a club. €1.2m running costs and half of that directly from the fans. Pats have their released their promo video for the new season. They have defo ramped up their efforts at marketing the club. With a decent push, the attendances should really improve. There's still plenty of work to be done to improve the facilities around the ground but it's a good place to go to a game. The crowd are close to the pitch, theres loads of boozers nearby, it's close to town and is on the Red Line. |

Surprised Pats didn't mention Milltown in their home grounds, they won a few titles playing there
