They did for a couple of high profile deaths abroad but its not the norm. Repatriation is expensive. Nobody sees change from €10k i read a couple of years back even from short haul locations. The amount of families left in a horrible situation to raise funds because the individual had no travel insurance is unreal. Just look at the kevin bell repatriation charity. Get travel insurance, its cheap as chips and will save loved ones another nightmare on top of the one they’re dealing with already.
