Nobody is that naive to think a sport is clean!? I would imagine even the GAA is riddled.

It's not that I think sports are dirty, sportsman\women will take something to gain an advantage. As the rewards are massive.

Shoco, a question for ya lad.
Why do you think no players who Guardiola has fallen out with and got rid of, and there have been a few, have mentioned the fact that he's "doping the players up to the eyeballs", once they've left the club?
Why have rival managers never mentioned it? Mourinho for example, he's been Guardiola's rival for many a year now, and wouldn't stop at anything in getting a dig in. He even had a dig at him for being bald.

Do you think a fellow manager would open himself up like that by making such accusations?

Because players don't want to leave themselves open to suspensions
Players don't want to have their reputations tarnished as being a cheat
Because other teams are at it.

How many whistle blowers are there in other sports?
Why did it take until Paul Kimmage came along to tell the truth about what was happening in cycling.
How many sports stars in other sports are currently speaking about about cheats in there sport and actually naming people?

It just doesn't happen

It's one thing giving someone a dig about being bald/a clown but it's a totally different scenario to accuse them of doping.
The ramifications would be huge, Jose can be accused of many things but he's not stupid.

I'd be shocked if there isn't doping to some level in every sport.

Nail on the head there.

In other sports something like the Juve scandal would have been a Festina like moment but football perpetuates the myth that taking drugs will not improve performance. The normally great Tim Vickery on the world football phone in on BBC (great podcast) said something like taking drugs for football won't give you skill.

That seems to be the standard football retort to drugs. Taking EPO or blood bags won't give you skill but being able to sprint just as much in the 91st minute as the 1st gives a team a massive advantage.

BTW personally I would assume drugs at the top level are as widespread in football at the top level as in any other sport.

The focus will always be on the leaders, especially when they are led by a cheat

That Juventus team was probably the most doped up of recent times, some good articles on the net about it.

Didn't a journalist who's good friends with Jose recently say Conte captained the Juventus team on drugs

“It's easier to find a confessing Mafioso than a confessing soccer professional,” according to Raffaele Guariniello, the prosecutor who uncovered evidence of systematic abuse of medication at Juventus Turin, the famous Italian soccer club.

Eufemiano Fuentes is an interesting one. The only blood bags investigated were cycling and athletics related. I would be shocked if there was no football related ones (Le monde were sued for suggesting as much). He was still working as the Dr for Las Palmas as late as 2011 and there were rumoured links to Barcelona.

In Cycling the obvious example, the team doctor is with everyone and is charge of a doping regime and everyone knows that all the other cyclists are it. There are numerous whistle blowers, but more importantly there are also numerous deaths that clearly are related to taking to much drugs, ditto wrestlers. Now I could be wrong here, but I can't think of many exp footballers deaths where there was a big suspicion of a career of misuse leading to an early death.

If it is happening at clubs, are all the players taking them? Or just some, what to do the non taking players think?

Why hasn't there been a player that got injured early in his career and thought who cares, I'm gonna be the one to reveal what really happens.

Is it rogue players taking them, which management could well be aware of but say nothing as long as they're not involved.

I'm not sure if it's related, but there is/was a case in Spain, where a load of sports men and women's blood samples were held by the police. The court ruled that they were all to be destroyed, but an appeal meant only the cyclists ones could be revealed but the other ones were not to be destroyed, but the names of them couldn't be released. The Madrid and Barcelona teams were believed to be the main players blood samples.

Nadal's career was said to nosedive at just the same time as all this tooLOL

I would assume that would still have friends and colleagues at the previous club? Maybe trying to use these contacts for something else.

I would assume a systematic doping regime like US postal may not be that widespread but I'm not sure.
