Blatter and Platini's bans from "footballing activity" means they are still able to watch Louis Van Gaal's Manchester United play.

Good enough for them

Say Blatter was retiring anyway so no real loss for him, but would say Platini career gone now can't see him getting near any top job.

John Delaney for UEFA president??

as much as his ego would love the job it mean he would have to step down as FAI chief exec afaik. can't see him giving up the job for life for a fixed term role.

Presidency of the OCI when Hickey steps down is more likely for the Dear Leader

I can't see either Russia or Qatar being stripped of the World Cup no matter who comes in. In fairness, Russia probably deserves a World Cup considering the size of the country and the fact they've never hosted it before. Qatar though is a joke.

The two of them were given the choice of an 8 year ban or been forced to watch LVG's Man Utd play for the remainder of the season.  The obviously went with the less severe sentence!Smile

They both bought it. If Qatar is stripped, Russia has to be too. With the level of rasicism at Russian games, no way should they have been rewarded with the biggest event in the game.
If it went on size then India and China are well overdue a World Cup!

India & China have no footballing pedigree. Russia do.

Could say the same about the USA or South Africa when they hosted it

1966 was the last time it wasn't bought ;)

Joking aside, the state of FIFA is a reflection of the state of the world. Step outside Europe, U.S. And a few others corruption is the norm.

It's all relative and the good guys have their own scandals a plenty, Enron, Anglo etc, greed and the 'I want more than you' aspect of the human condition.

It's nothing to do with pedigree. The line from fifa when Qatar got it was they were trying to spread the love to places that usually wouldn't be considered. I like the idea but in reality the process was heavily corrupt. Both Russia and Qatar paid around 100 million dollars to buy them. The process was rotten to the core and needs to be redone even if it results in the next world Cup being put off for a year or 2.

Fifa election: Gianni Infantino wants regional World Cups

Fifa presidential candidate Gianni Infantino says he would press for the World Cup to be held in a whole region rather than one or two countries.

The Uefa general secretary has included the plan in his manifesto for the Fifa election on 26 February.

His idea follows European football's governing body Uefa's decision to play Euro 2020 in 13 different countries.

"Each confederation shall have to wait at least two editions before being able to host the World Cup again," he said.

Does anybody care about fans? Sure yeah, do that..... last group stage match in Moscow, the last sixteen in Lisbon. No bother getting thousands of fans across the region like that.
