I'd have thought a defensive midfielder would have a lot to do against a team like City. Hope to see Josh a bit more involved in the second half. Hopefully you'll be shocked in a positive manner if he is.

I think he's been alright so far, all things considered. Don't feel like City have been consistently breaking Burnley down in the middle of the park which would indicate that Cullen isn't doing much wrong

Phew, thought I was going to read he's injured, in which case we would be well and truly f**ked!

Depends on if it's the way he played in Greece or not.

Will Josh retain his place in central mid under the next Ireland manager? He is no longer a starter for Burnley. Hardly gets a mention on here, there's no discussion about what's going on with him. Who might play the #6 role in his place?

I've been wondering what going on with him too. He's been out of matchday squads 4 times this season, and left on the bench 4 more times. All since he served a Yellow Card suspension: Haven't seen mention of an injury. He'll definitely keep his squad place as he's one of our best midfielders, but injured or dropped, either way, we've needed a backup no.6 for years already. Molumby can cover there, but a no.6 needs to be better on the ball than he is. The 3 short term options: Coventry should be moving on from West Ham next month. Connell is back playing after his illness, & will surely get an upward move in the summer if he's back to his best. Hodge has spoken about going on loan in January. By March & June any/all 3 of them could be in contention for a call up. |

Let me help you to stop wondering. Hes a poor player. Simple as that. I hope whoever the next manager is they come up with a different formula for our midfield cause its fooking sh*te. Cullen dosent really offer anything. And hes not our best midfielder either. We dont have one.

A bit of a nothing player alright, not surprised he's lost his place at Burnley since promotion. Connell/Hodge would be some way off replacing him yet, so I'd imagine it'll be a while before he's given any serious worries about his place in our team.

He’s not a good player and unfortunately we don’t have any good centre midfielders at this moment on time.

He was suspended then didn't get back into the team straight away and then missed a few games through injury, that's the games he wasn't in the squad. But again hasn't forced his way back in since injury either
