I didn't, I just didn't find the joke on your feelings about the Pope that funny after the 3rd time, never mind when other people attempted to crack the same joke.

I don't find him covering up sexual abuse funny, nor his disgusting and backwards views amusing. What can you do?

@Wee wee- my parents worked for the Brit Govt (Commonwealth Office) rather than the Church of Scotland of which local dictator Hastings Banda was a lifelong member. But thanks for asking.

HB was also a big football fan and used to wave his flywhisk whenever anyone scored ;)

@ P-Madge- I'll admit to Eurocentric bias as well as lack of geography knowledge, although East Africa being 'nearby' to offshore East African island is probably forgivable

Malawi....hardly top level diplomatic corp! Hasting's flyswat would have been busy if he had gone to Windsor.

So it's agreed Republic of Malawi was a posting in the Diplomatic Corps.

If it's good enough for President Michael D. Higgins in 2014
https://www.google.ie/amp/s/www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/president-michael-d-higgins-recalls-first-world-war-in-malawi-1.1995371%3fmode=amp

"President Michael D Higgins has said memories of the first World War should forever be a warning against extreme nationalism."

(There are Republic of Ireland Fans who will read that quote and their first thought is "nationalism" is spelt with a small 'n'. Then they'll see what the newspaper is and just shrug and think The Irish Times = West Brit.)

Chap asked me to put this up for any MM drivers or those who are into retro cars North(or South):

EASTER MONDAY OLD VEHICLE RUN

The Morris Minor Owners Club is holding their Annual Easter Monday Run on 2nd April starting at Malone Golf Club, Belfast.

Open to all makes and models of old vehicles registered prior to 1990 (not just Minors) the Run will start with all entrants having a hearty breakfast with vehicles leaving in convoy at 11 am.

They will travel via Ballyskeagh Road, McKinstry Road, Stoneyford Road, Budore Road and Mallusk Road to Sandyknowes roundabout then Doagh Road to Hilliside Nursery Centre where they will be on display to the public from 12.30 pm to 3 pm.

Leaving there they will travel via Ballyboley Road, Deerpark Road and Cairncastle Road finishing at Carirndhu Golf Club with vehicles on display there from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm.

This is the first run of the rally season and always proves a very popular event with entrants travelling from as far away as Coleraine, Enniskillen & Monaghan to take part.

Local entries received so far are :

a 1966 Morris Minor Traveller

a 1982 Mercedes 280C

a 1962 Morris Minor Traveller

a 1968 Minor Convertible

a 1938 Austin 8

a 1971 MG B Roadster

a 1981 Jaguar XJ6

a 1974 Humber Sceptre

a 1989 Nissan Pao

The Morris Minor Owners Club is one of the most active old vehicle Clubs in NI with over 100 members and they welcome all old vehicle owners not just those who own the famous moggie.  They organise a wide range of outings across the country starting on Easter Monday right through to September.

To enter this event or for further information on the Club visit their website www.mmoc-ni.co.uk

Coleraine and Cliftonville will meet in the 2018 Irish Cup final after the Premiership teams won Saturday's semi-finals.

Last season's beaten finalists Coleraine beat Larne 3-1 while Cliftonville swept aside Loughgall 4-1.

The final takes place at Windsor Park on Saturday, 5 May.

Well done Cliftonville.

That's some record Glentoran have. Who do you follow Florry?
I was in the stands in the Oval about 17 years ago and it was a bit dilapidated (similar to Dalymount now) as was the area around it. What's it like these days?

I support Crusaders (although grew up slightly closer to Solitude and went to Cliftonville PS)

The Oval still looks much as it did in 1978 (or 1938). I expect they'll move to a smaller site if property prices in the area rise. One possibility in a future UI and as part of the current 2040 plans is that Belfast's port will expand while Dublin's is redeveloped for housing..

Cliftonville have 8 Irish Cups and will have 9 come 5pm on May 5th.

The Oval is a brilliant ground IMO. I love the sense of history in it. I am also a fan of Dalymount for the same reason. It is however unsafe at times as the teerracing is very slippery when wet.

was at the reds irish cup game as I couldn't get a ticket for the larne vs coleraine game. Joe gormley is a class act. the second goal he scored was quality (if you get a chance have a look) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43607453 , pity it didn't work out at Peterborough for him with the injury. they seem abit ropey at the back anytime ive watched them though. Fancy them to do it this year. The IFA no doubt will stick the hand in and charge at least £20 a ticket again, reducing the attendance as most neutrals will just watch it on the TV due to the price.

Got to the crues vs coleraine game last night also. Poor enough game to much hoof ball by both sides, coleraine the better in the first and the crues better in the 2nd, so 1-1 a fair enough result. Still keeps it interesting at the top for the last 4 games.
