I'd be surprised if he plays most of Albion's games next term-he's 38 before Xmas. Retire from internationals when we get knocked out of the WC (so anytime between October and July Tongue )

Linfield have won a bizarre tug of war with Belfast rivals Crusaders to sign former York defender Josh Robinson after both Irish League clubs claimed he had joined them on Thursday night.

The 24-year-old mutually departed the non-league Minstermen on Thursday and Linfield, the reigning Irish League champions, were the first to announce Robinson had reached an agreement to move to Windsor Park.

However, around an hour later, Crusaders stated that Robinson had in fact signed terms to return to them and that such paperwork had already been lodged with the Irish Football Association (IFA).

A million pound in the bag is great news for linfield but bad for the other teams in the north.

I still can't get my hear around why they don't give summer football a shot up there.

Without taking the thread drastically off-topic, I am not sure that it has been a huge success in the League of Ireland. They have this debate annually in Scotland and the arguments against always seem a lot stronger.

I'd argue that European results alone in the last decade prove that it has been a sucess in Ireland

There's other summer passtimes in the North which would clash with football fixtures

Ireland were ranked 40th when summer football came in and were ranked 38th before this year's competitions started. The biggest factors in the perceived improvement in European results were the changes in format by UEFA, which gives our Champion's League entrants a chance at qualifying for the Europa League, and the steady replacement of unsustainable wages, which fuelled the early successes with summer football, and replacing them with better ran clubs who qualify for Europe.
