Agreed- the Cup Final price hike was unnecessary
Cliftonville are a bit easier on the eye but have really underachieved this term- they need the Cup more than Coleraine do With 3 home games left Crues are clear favorite to win the League

Without doubt the clear favourites, Ive watched them a couple of times, heatley and whyte are different class. Surely a few English or Scottish clubs are looking at them. Coleraine have already secured Europa league football, So I think 3rd place will also secure that as reds and coleraine are in the irish cup final, so there could be a few upsets at the top with glenavon, cliftonville and linfield still looking for that 3rd spot. Its been an interesting season so far. Cant see the crues throwing it away as they did last season though as I cant see Coleraine winning their final four.

Not so sure. Dublin is closer to continental Europe. Plus it's closer to the southeast of England, coming via Holyhead. And it's where the main body of population is, too. They keep reclaiming land as they need it there, so it may avoid being repurposed for housing. If anywhere was to be expanded, it would be the likes of Balbriggan or Drogheda, assuming Irish Rail continue to run Rosslare into ruin. I'd be surprised if Belfast expanded as part of a UI - it does a lot of intra-UK stuff at the minute that could easily be diverted to Dublin if Belfast was part of a UI. |

I’m hoping for Balbriggan. When you look at the ferry to Scotland from Belfast, changing the destination to Cairnryan to reduce the fuel spent on Loch Ryan, suggests that you are right. Maybe they could upgrade the line to Belfast and transfer shipping containers by rail. |

Balbriggan is a deep water port afaik. Stands a good chance of being expanded in a big way |

Planning to head up to the cup final if I can. Want to sit in the Reds end obviously but presume there'll be loads of tickets, maybe even possible to buy on the day?

@ Dave, Denis, Flynnie
I was quoting a guy on one of the RTE weekend panels a few weeks back Sorry his name escapes me I see the logic of centralising a transport hub as well as housing (esp if Ireland becomes even more a 'ribbon' megacity with Belfast just a bigger than Rosslare fringe suburb). But in a wider cost benefit analysis you might weigh up whether it's worth impoverishing Larne to save pennies on container traffic into Balbriggan

I think you meant impoverishing Larne *even more*. But Larne will have to survive as an Ireland - Scotland port. It has some advantages as it stands: it is closer to Scotland than Belfast is, and it is very well connected to the road network and the main population base of Northern Ireland. There's no point in sending container ships from Rotterdam directly past Rosslare, Dublin, Balbriggan, Drogheda and Belfast up to Larne only to have them drive south again! |

Buy them off ticketmaster. Club only selling 1500 tickets so the chance of picking one up on match day are slim. the rest are online. they have the north stand which holds approx. 6800, which they will sell out no doubt. I could see the kop end being used though for a spill over of cliftonville fans.

I'd be surprised if Cliftonville sold as many as 6800 for this game? I was at the last Irish Cup Final they were in against Glentoran and they didn't have as many as that there.

there was 5.5k Cliftonville fans at the 2013 they sold out their allocation iirc, the kop was used with a few restricted areas in it along with some of the south stand which a large portion wasn't fit for use. Attendance figures have been up across the board from then. Coleraine will have a huge crowd out considering how well they are going also. Seems to be a bit more optimism from the reds fans I know this year to, usually theyre resigned to losing in irish cup finals before a ball is kicked. I enjoy the irish cup final, theyre usually a decent atmosphere, One thing I will say though they have made a balls of that stadium. its hideous if youre in the south stand in particular.

What is the problem with the South Stand? I like it. Great sightlines and plenty of legroom. You are close to the pitch and the atmosphere is fantastic. It is much better than the North Stand. I don't like the lower tier there.

Reds fans won't ever have to worry about the South Stand as god forbid we are allowed into anything other than the oldest part of the ground with its lack of bars (north). I think we will sell in the region of 6k. Some amount of busses being organised. Think the Reds will break the hoodoo this year despite the IFA conspiring against us to make itbas comfortable as possible for Coleraine. Dont want to spend money at the place anyway. Bars in North Belfast far more comfortable. |

I think with the media and vip area split in the middle it kills the atmosphere abit. The view from the north upper is very good although the facilities are dreadful. I was expecting a modern state of the art stadium similar to the Aviva but its dreadful in comparison.

Sadly it still generates a better atmosphere. I haven't been in the new Windsor yet. Is this final on TV? |
