The opposite actually no way Sunak will call an election for May why would he much more likely for the government to hang on as long as they can and go for the election in 2025

Fair play to the electorate for switching their vote, one of the strengths of the UK voting system where change can happen unlike here where the constitution was designed so that either FG or FF will always be in power.

The UK system is a terrible one.
Merits and demerits in both system. FTPT is portrayed as a very egalitarian system but in reality it has maintained the status quo from the formation of the state until today.

But we have PRSTV in Ireland and it is better for smaller parties and independents.  In fact FF tried to get rid of PRSTV a number of years ago in favour of FPTP as it would have suited them.  PRSTV means that’s the parliament is as reflective of the will of the people as much as possible.

Under FPTP a candidate can win a seat with 40% of people voting for them or more importantly 60% not voting for them.  How can they represent an area when the majority don’t want them there.
Mea Culpa, I meant we have PRSTV here...First day of the new season. Here a fella can get 900 first preference votes and get elected on the transfers from his fellow party member when a fella can get thousands more first preference votes and not get elected.

Yes that’s true but The second persons has not got enough first votes to get him over the line and if he loses out in such a situation it means the majority of people in that area actively dislike him or her and do not want to see them
Elected.  PRSTV is factually more representative a system and it’s far more democratic.  The only criticism of it is that it produces more coalitions and some may argue less effective governments.  However on the basis of democracy and representation it
Is a far better system

I’d be thinking along the same lines. Can’t see them going as long as Feb so November makes the most sense.

Shame Galloway benefitted from an absolute dumpster fire of a by-election in Rochdale. Another reason to hope the current parliament is dissolved as soon as possible and with another candidate Labour take the seat.

What do you think of his views on conflicts like Syria and Ukraine? Or his comments on Tucker Carlson’s interview with Putin (“not Vlad the mad or the bad…”).

Expect nothing less from you. Opening a post on YBIG with ‘great to see’ is a sure fire sign of a dreadful post.

Great to see Galloway back in British politics. Has always being to the forefront of the truth about the war in Ukraine. Very much right about what happened in Syria and other conflicts in North Africa and the ME. It’s no surprise our resident Tory isn’t happy. Ye boys took one hell of a beating.

You always needs effective opposition when dealing with a hard right government. Same with Europe, some of our MEP’s have been a disgrace and a small cohort of effective opposition ( Clare Daly) has held them to account.

You’re talking absolute nonsense. The fact that you think he is ‘right’ about Syria says it all. Worth looking at how Galloway ran the campaign, and some of the company he has kept in recent years. If that’s your agenda then you are a joke.
