What’s interesting is that you effectively have a list system where you vote for the party.

Take the Peterborough By-Election recently, if Fiona Onaysanya had quit Labour and agreed to a By-Election based on an ideological fall out (rather than the actual reasons for why there was an election), and stood as an independent, chances are she would have been trounced, an more of than not, simply for the sin of not having the party backing.

I'm a Green member. Lucas is impressive beyond the party but she wouldn't have been elected without the base PM mentions.

Fair enough, and that does make a lot of sense considering the wider approach people take to electing their reps in the UK.

  • Sajid Javid asked at hustings what his message to EU would be if he became PM. Answer: “I’d tell them there’s a new person in town - everything has changed”

Reality is regardless of how Brexit pans out. People will go back to the norms, Lab/Con. Corbyn is f**king hated by many so I suspect that’ll be a Lib Dem vote. Tory/Lib Dems Coalition, I suspect for the next parliament

    LOLLOL

Are you mad ? They're not going to make that mistake again especially with a buffon like Boris and the fact that LD's a remain too

Boris will be gone by Christmas. He's an idiot who'll be way out of his depth

They said the same about Donnie, who has just launched his re-election campaign.

UK Politics  a different beast to be fair. Don't forget  Boris won't necessarily have a majority in Parliament . Plenty of people waiting in the long grass for him.

But in an election scenario that could all change.

Boris’ Brexit behaviour may win over sectors of the vote which went to the Brexit Party, and take back the Brexit wing of the party, while he straddles the line with remainers.

Also, nobody understands the long game better than Boris. There are reasons he never went near the 2016 election.

No way does he keep both. That's one of his main problems.

In fact, that’s a problem for all leaders. You either chrystallise your constituency by standing firm or you vacillate. May’s failure to make any headway was another failure. Boris will need to stick by his initial position.

Be either Stewart or Gove who goes tonight at 6pm.

Many thought Stewart would be gone yesterday but as said last week there's a public appeal about him, I feel if he survives tonight he'll go far into the voting.

Boris doing the right thing by avoiding the cameras still like the plague, the longer he stays quiet the more chance he has of winning.

    Shouldn't it be Sajid Javid?

Ya stewart seems a decent type of guy. As you say there is a publuc appeal about him. Would he ever be a strong enough character to be PM though?
