Hes a primary school teacher in Dundrum. Hes originally from Cavan and has been involved in schools football for long time and before that played for Stedfast in UCFL.
He would be close to Donal Conway, Paraic Treanor and Noel Fitzroy. A good supporter of the national team paying his own way. This is the start of OLD GUARD V NEW GUARD

The FAIS are in the same 'others' grouping that the supporters reps were put into along worth colleges, universities, refs, defence forces, f ootball for all and the PFAI. Can't speak for anyone else but we certainly weren't canvassed for our opinion on it. He mentions others are supporting it in the submission but no one else has put their names to it. Think we can hazard a guess that it's those with over ten years service on council. To have a paragraph that reads as below in a submission that basically calls for people who were asleep at the wheel and questioning nothing when JD was running the place into the ground to be given another two years is frankly staggering. 'As a Member of the Senior Council of the Football Association of Ireland I am charged under FAI Rules, Rule 15 (1) to "be responsible for monitoring the activities of the FAI and for monitoring the Board's Governance of the Association."' Its Anti Quinn and the new brigade. If FIFA/UEFA come the big brother then government funding again under threat.
It will be a case of one step forward three steps back.

The old guard have no credibility. If some of them can show proof that they queried accounts or Delaneys running of the association then fair enough. If there hasn't been a squeak out of them for 10 years then they can whistle dixie now. It's too late my friend.

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

D69 says above that he's close to Conway, Fitzroy and Traenor. So presumably one of them Odd how this f**ker didn't have concerns during the time JD was there

f**k him and any of the old members that allowed Delaney control all unchallenged. It’s nothing more than sour grapes from the old gang like Morton trying to stick up for his old pals.

Let's get one thing right I'm NOT in anyway Pro the Old Guard and I have been as vocal as anyone about what went on the last 20 years in FAI.
I was just stating fact that the old guard dont want to pass the power to the new. This could get very messy if FIFA/UEFA get involved. FAI need funding and very soon from somewhere !!

I would very much feel that Rod Hull resembles Donal Conway in this case.

It was Proud and Loud who said that. I don't know who he's close to, just that he represents the FAI for Schools. Given that Conway was a teacher, it would make sense they'd be close though.

UEFA/FIFA should regard him as a solo run and ignore him , if no other people are willing to put their names to it then it can only be regarded as a solo run.
Its not as if FAI members aren't used to putting their names to supportive letters ...……………...

Anyone who has clocked up 10 years on the Council and sat idly by while the FAI was run into the ground is, by definition, unsuitable to remain on grounds of competence and credibility. As for outside interference, does that include finance? THe FAI was destroyed by the old guard. Without outside involvement it would cease to exist.

Was shocked (actually probably not come to think of it) to hear Fran Gavin is still in the FAI...Same auld sh*te as before, how can people have trust in the new regime when those complicit in running the sh*tshow into the ground are still there?!

To be honest I think the interim board has played a blinder. It wouldn't surprise me if they told the government to make bail out 100% conditional on the new reforms because they new they hadn't a hope in hell of getting the turkeys to vote for Christmas otherwise.
Were UEFA/FIFA not involved in the bailout talks so they wont back track now.
This quote is laughable......did he only cop on to this aspect of the job lately...... 'As a Member of the Senior Council of the Football Association of Ireland I am charged under FAI Rules, Rule 15 (1) to "be responsible for monitoring the activities of the FAI and for monitoring the Board's Governance of the Association."' |

there are a fair few all recent signatures to letters of gushing support to JD that are still involved - clearly they have no shame

that Joe McGlue and Fran Gavin are still in well paid jobs is my biggest problem with the new Fai . Both were enforcers for jd especially against Ireland Fans, loi fans and clubs . There is still a cancer within the fai who never questioned Delaneys behaviour as long as the expenses and freebies were being handed out . Some supporters were also more than happy to kiss his ass as long as they got their fill too.
