Superb post Dave.   People who divide decision making into good and bad often get the wrong end of the stock  sometimes it's the least worst option.  Whsts in front of you is sh*t and now pick the least worst option.

I think I see a flaw in your "clean break" argument:

"Hello, my name is Mr. Yenaled and I come from, er, some place far away. Yes, that''l do. I say we invest the money back in a new CEO."

(Waylon Conway likes the way Yenaled thinks, at any rate)

It wouldn't be by any chance that Delaney getting a substantial payoff for leaving his position sets a precedent for a payoff for anyone else that follows?

So they got rid of him to stop his shadow hanging over football and the first action is to delay a report because of getting rid of him.

You couldnt script how inept this association is.

and the rest of them including Sport Ireland.
And the auditors

Look how they all changed their tune after the horse had bolted

Look how Sport Ireland praised JD one week before the FAI Oireacteas Meeeting, then stuck the boot in after

look how the auditors found nothing for years then all of a sudden filed a complaint to the ODCE

This country is riddled and Football is the perfect example

What would the harm be if they were bankrupted? Genuinely, I see that as a clean break that would give us the chance to start again.

Report on RTE radio tonight saying they want to include Delaney's payoff in the report, that's why they asked for more time.

Well would the good people within the FAI be out of a job then? I would imagine we would then lose our co ownership on lansdowne road

That's going eventually anyway

Presume we’d drop to bottom of all ranking systems too?

Brian Kerr said John Delaney got to keep his pension but the ordinary staff didn't? How is this not illegal considering this carry on was constantly in the news after the 2008 economic crash.

The FAI could easily have told Delaney to get lost and told him he was getting nothing . That would have been the right thing to do.

Would Delaney really have sued the FAI and taken them to court . There would be uproar after everything that has come out already and he would have to leave the country . The fact that they have actually paid him off just goes to show what dirt he probably has on many of the others still in there

Yes, he almost certainly would have.

Exactly. The man has no shame, he would have tried to bleed them for everything they have. I’m not happy with the fact they paid him off but I am glad he is finally gone. Just need a full clear out of any remaining old FAI board members.
