Article on Jamie Bowden here - well thought of at Spurs and already played a good few games for their U23/PL2 side:

Suprised Callum Thompson was omitted..has played quite a bit for the Wolves 23's & was involved in the training camp last month.

Odubeko is overage for the Under 17s now, cut off is 1/1/2003.

He certainly seems to have a good agent, was linked to every major club in Europe during the summer but we're into October and he still doesn't have a team. Looks like it will be West Ham Under 23s at best now.

I mean if anything, his agent must be complete sh*te. He was being involved in the u18s squads at the tail end of last season despite being u16 and was offered a scholarship at United which he turned down. Reason being he saw no pathway with Mason Greenwood there, advised to him by his agent. He turned that deal down over 3 months ago now and his agent still hasn't found him a club to sign with. That sounds like a terrible agent with no care to Mipo's development. West Ham u23s would actually be good though, if he is to actually guarantee time in the u23s. Regular u23s football as a first year scholar is doing incredibly well.

Speaking of Irish United lads, Deji Sotona has looked very good so far this season but unfortunately has been left with mainly appearances off the bench behind some of the recent big signings.

It's a really pity the New Zealand game isn't on after the Denmark game, McCarthy could have brought an extended squad of 27/28 players and filled it with 5 or 6 players from the u21's and give them a run out.

The New Zealand will be more or less used to start definite fringe players who we know what can offer like Kevin Long, Hogan, O'Dowda, Judge etc.

What is your obsession with playing underage players?

The objective was to qualify for the tournament, ultimately to finance the FAI.

It's not a development squad.

Mick picked a team yesterday with the best available players, most if not all are playing for their clubs in the EPL or Championship.

He played possibly the best 11 available to him, and there were few complaints before the game.

Confused

Why would you not use a friendly to blood young players? What is to be gained by seeing Kevin Long, Alan Judge, Shane Long etc playing friendlies?

We are going absolutely nowhere with our style of play and how we set up, sometimes you have to say "lets start again" I would rather sacrifice results in the short term with a new modern approach to just about everything we do and usher in a new style of play with exciting talent than this absolute sh*te we are being served up.

McCarthys objective to qualify for the Euros is all well and good, achieving it is miles away and our performances back that up.

We are one knockout punch away from getting a bad beating which is coming in this group, we have simply rode our luck too many times for it not to happen.

If we go back and look at the Bulgaria game, he choose to play the fringe players. The fringe players are next in line to play qualifying games in the absence of first team players.

Youngsters were also included in that line up too - Travers, Cullen, Byrne, Curtis and O'Hara.

I don't recall if the under 21's had a game that night or not, but people are continually moving the goal posts about what they want.

Yes and I merely said its a pity we werent playing New Zealand second as we would have had a free hit to blood youngsters from the u21s.

Isn’t a million miles away from making the bench, apparently
Likely to make the bench tomorrow night as Bayo has been ruled out.

I see the U16s were well beaten for the second time in a few days.

Is anyone else worried about the lack of talent coming through after the U19s/U21s?
