Rumour sites here saying Ajax and PSV interested in Simon Power of Norwich. He was on loan at FC Dordrecht here in Holland, though some bad luck with injuries. But his performance in Toulon has sparked an interest apparently.

Here's hoping he's the 1st Irishman since Frank Stapleton to play for Ajax!

Kind of a surprise, but I guess rocketarse pace never goes out of style
You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

Did they maybe get him mixed up with someone else?

Wouldn’t it be great to see an Irish young lad say f**k it and move to Holland even though the Championship probably pays better.

Power is lightening quick...his speed is jaw dropping but I fear he may be a one trick pony. Never been blown away by when I've seen him play.

It'll be interesting to see if he can improve his skills at the youth set up at Ajax, PSV or one of the others mentioned. Skills can definitely be worked on, especially as he's still young. But it'll take a fair bit of effort from him too.

Don't think his skills are that bad tbh, I'm surprised he's being  linked with those sorts of teams but I think he is a useful footballer aside from the lightning pace.
We're decent enough..

Thanks for that. Troy Parrott missing out is a blow - would be an absolute star in this tournament. Delighted to see Brandon Kavanagh involved.

It's incredible to think of the eligible talent that is missing for one reason or another; Connolly, Idah, O' Connor, Knight, Coventry, Collins, Obafemi, Parrott.

We those available, we may have been genuine favourites to win this. Good luck to the lads selected anyway.

Geremi has let Kilbane in here, cross comes out to Holland, 1:1!!

Is it definite that the squad for the tournament will be selected from those players that were part of the training squad?  I'm still hopeful that Parrott and one or two others might be selected for the final squad.

Its a long time since we've had a generation of players like this in a single age group.  Possibly the U16 or U18 squads from 1998.

Probably would have all been in the starting XI too.
