Ireland u21 captain goes on loan to Millwall in the Championship after signing on for a further two years at Brighton: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49089839

He covered every blade of grass leading Ireland to the semis in Toulon, where he got the award for fourth best player in the tournament.

Good move for him - from what we saw in Toulon he seems more than capable of holding his own at Championship level.

A couple of years ago he looked far more likely than obafemi of making it but he just didn't kick on.  Didn't score enough or do enough for the u23 to warrant a professional contract. Good chance of establishing himself at a lower level and working his way back up though

Palace have made an offer according to reports, he would have a decent chance of getting game time there as their striking options are terrible.

I was really impressed with Afolabi during this competition, deserved his goal against the Czechs after his superb efforts against Norway and France. Most strikers wouldn't have even been able to get the shot off with those chances. Outmuscled and outpaced the defenders brilliantly to give himself the chance - and a sweet strike every time.

Good move should get plenty of game time. Pats have some quality players with likes of Markey, Forrester, Lennon and Mcauley.

Flying a bit under the radar, Gavin Kilkenny has started Bournemouth's last two preseason games. They have been relatively strong lineups too.

Geremi has let Kilbane in here, cross comes out to Holland, 1:1!!

Winger or no.10. Skillful player but I've only seen him play twice for our u-17s a couple of years ago. Others on here could speak to his ability better.

Troy Parrot - don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket but should get some game time this season

Nathan Collins - with shawcross out I would be surprised if Collins doesn’t get the nod

Dan Crowley - has had a good preseason with new club Birmingham so I would expect/hope that to continue

Michael Obafemi - unlucky with injury at the end of last season and would like to see him pick up where he left off

Luca Connell - move to Celtic in the hope to get some game time and would be good to see him in the holding midfield role

Josh Cullen - May look for a loan move but I think he could massive for any championship team

Whisper it quietly but it's not looking too bad for the future right now

Jonathan Afolabi made the u19 euros Team of the Tournament, really interested to see where he ends up now after leaving Southampton.

He’s in excellent company. Looking at this list you’d be amazed if a bigger club than Southampton didn’t take a look at him:

Goalkeeper

Arnau Tenas (Spain & Barcelona)

Defenders

Víctor Gómez (Spain & Espanyol)
Eric García (Spain & Manchester City)
Oumar Solet (France & Lyon)
Juan Miranda (Spain & Barcelona)

Midfielders

Maxence Caqueret (France & Lyon)
Antonio Blanco (Spain & Real Madrid)
Fábio Vieira (Portugal & Porto)

Forwards

Ferrán Torres (Spain & Valencia)
Jonathan Afolabi (Republic of Ireland & unattached)
Félix Correia (Portugal & Sporting CP)

You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

Fair play and well-deserved.  Afolabi really proved a point with his performances.  Hug

Pity that lob from his own half against France didn't come off!

Will Smallbone came on at half time for Southampton v Feyenoord in Rotterdam; a game in which Liam Kelly appeared for the home side on 65 min.
