Mural is now complete and will be unveiled on Fri Aug 7th @ 4:30pm on the Falls Road by Lord Mayor of Belfast Mr. Arder Carson as Patrick started his career with Belfast Celtic a club with strong links Glasgow Celtic - Lisbon Lions Bertie Auld & John Clark will be part of the unveiling party with Harry Gregg Man United former keeper who we have invited.

Thanks to sponsors Crown Paints & Feile Belfast and to Ireland and Celtic fan Noel Gallagher who's mgmt company have allowed us to use the words 'When you take my soul don't take my pride' from Cast No Shadow song as part of the mual.
The words have been translated into Catalan & Spanish given Patric's success at Betis & Barcelona.

In the evening Maureen O'Sullivan TD Dublin Central will chair a free event a symposium on Patrick @ The Devenish Ballroom Complex,Finaghy,Belfast 7:30pm Aug 7th with football historians Sid Lowe(La Liga Fear & Lothing),Richard Fitzpatrick(El Classico),Dr. Colin Shindler(Manchester United Ruined My Life),Dr. Joe Bradley(Celtic Minded),Padraig Coyle(Chairperson Belfast Celtic FC) and Tony Devlin(Narrator Paddy Don Patricio TG4).

We will be raffling off a Euro 1988 shirt signed by the greatest ROI XI as voted by a panel of experts:

As Barcelona head stateside good piece on the 'tour of salvation' of 1937 below; when Barca toured Mexico,Cuba and the USA to take the club out of financial ruin.

The team was managed by Patrick O'Connell on the tour.

Page 3 today's Irish News - The POCMF have discovered through research Patrick lived at 163 Albert St. Falls Rd while playing for Belfast Celtic FC and will be inducted into the Camp Nou museum on Dec 30th 80 yrs after becoming FCB's manager.

Patrick O'Connell honoured today at Abbotstown with a dedicated commemorative alcove.


The Patrick O'Connell Memorial Fund also presented Ireland manager Martin O'Neill with a portrait by Belfast muralist Michael Doherty.
Mr. O'Neill kindly signed multiple shirts and a book to help raise funds for Patrick's memorial and has been a fervent supporter of the memorial fund - more details about the fund here:
