Incredible how the UFC rescued the 2 main events and arguably made them more exciting.

Ye the main and co-main are better (on paper at least) than the originals.

Hopefully Usman and Volk are close to being fully fit so they can do themselves justice.

It's a long shot but if Usman wins he could potentially challenge Strickland for the middle weight title which is a favourable match up for him especially if Adesanya does a rematch and loses. The UFC will look at him favourably for saving such a big card short notice.

Then there's volk, win or lose if he's not fit to defend his featherweight belt anytime soon after Islam there's talk of an interim. Which would be a sh*t show if Holloway wins it and they've to do a 4th fight.

Seems the UFC were trying to make more exceptions for McGregor in terms of anti-doping, USADA weren't having it so the UFC are dropping them.

McGregor is back in the testing pool as the contract runs until the end of the year and he needs to be in it 6 months prior to competing, so you can read this as a fight in April. Would he not be able to fight sooner than April if the USADA contract doesn’t extend into 2024?

They were fairly scathing about the UFC in their statement.

UFC could, in theory, invite him back tomorrow without any testing but would lose even more credibility than they already have if they did that.

Anyone is entitled to leave the testing pool whenever they want. Fighters even go as far as temporarily retiring just to leave it. There wasn't anything unusual about him leaving after a leg break.

Adesanya just said he's taking a long time off at middleweight. That basically makes this a title eliminator between Khamzat and Usman.

Speculation going around that Usman injured his knee in one of the open workouts. He looks worried and finishes the session immediately after it.

It was a mad decision taking that fight on 1 week’s notice, especially after the losses to Edwards. Now going in with one knee gone, hard to see anything other than another loss for Usman.
