Yeah, maybe.

Out of curiosity. Did you ask your friend about his search for a job ? I’m just interested to see what he said...

If they're on minimum wage they aren't going to save much in a year or two.

In that case I agree with you RB. At the same time you have to question the choices of someone whos only option is a job on minimum wage . Did they apply themselves in school, college ? School is open to everyone. It’s free to go ..

I don't think someone who didn't apply himself/herself to the best of their ability in school should be punished with being homeless in later life. Bit harsh

Someone has to work in the minimum wage jobs. You can't expect them all to be on the verge of living on the streets within a few months.

Absolutely . That’s point I’m making. We are responsible for the choices we make. I totally get that there are cases when everything has unfairly transpired to ruin someone’s life . At the same time these cases are in the minority behind addiction and bad life choices. That’s my opinion and as someone who works in half a dozen houses per day I’m in no way alone in thinking that , despite what the group think is out there.

Where are these free to go to schools or do you mean they're free after you buy the uniform x2, the school tracksuit, the te shoes, the school books, school bag, pay up front for arts and crafts? I’ve one chisler and it costs a small fortune every August to get him set for school, then random top up bits throughout the year, school tours/events, fancy dress days.... far from free in the true sense.

So you never asked him so ? Fine.

His parents were killed and he was an only child . Did his parents not have any relations who would look after him given the tragic circumstances? Aunts,Uncles, Cousins etc. ?

Horribly condescending attitudeThumbs Down When I moved over to England here despite a long search I had to 'settle' for a job on minimum wage...It wasn't for lack of trying. Thankfully said job saw somwthing in me and I;ve since been promoted to a managerial position. And I did spend 3 years in college. It was taking too long to get evrything set up over here to go back into what I studied but it was a worrying two months looking for work watching my finances drain. Thankfully my girlfriend helped out and once sorted with work I was fine. If I wasn't over with the gf or had friends over here then I could have ended up in great difficulty. Your view of all this is like of someone looking down from an ivory tower. Sickening tbh

What sort of a **** would you have to be to ask him that?
Given that he spent a few years in foster homes I would assume not.

I'm not sure if your lack of understanding is just from being an arsehole or whether it is purely naivete from being cocooned in a very stable environment, but I do find it astounding. You seem to have a very black and white view of the world, one that seems quite idealistic and innocent. That everybody has a family that loves them and the only people who slip through the cracks are very bad people who get what they deserve.

How have I lost the head?Confused I merely said how your viewpoint is coming across to me, it would seem others see it as condescending.
I try to help out some homeless people in some small way because if it wasn't for my girlfriend having the love and patience of a saint, I would probably be homeless now. I merely gave you one example of a normal young guy I know who finds himself homeless and then you decided to try and understand it further, but in a bizarre way that seems to echo your own background. This  is why I suggested that you are incapable of empathy as you can only see things based on your own experiences. I find this either ignorant, naive or , most likely, a little of both.

By the way, and for what it is worth, I have, once lost my head on here, with Rolo and over nothing in particular. Despite the length of time I have spent on here, I can honestly say it is the only time I have ever taken this, or anything else on the internet, seriously and it something that I still find embarrassing when I think about it. I can assure you I haven't lost anything as the missus is away so I'm eating pizza, watching Family Guy on tv and about to interrupt this debate by having a wank.

No it’s not. Society today has us blaming everyone bar ourselves . I’m just of the opinion that from a certain age we are responsible for our own choices, which we are. How’s thats condescending I don’t know..
