It's €159 from London to Irun on the Spanish border booked on voyages-sncf.com, for the eurostar and tgv. That's leaving Wednesday morning on the 07:55 eurostar. It's the same price on Thursday morning. Take the night train from there to Lisbon (the website, renfe.com, is down at the minute) which will probably be under sixty euro including a bed in "cams turista" class, arriving in Lisbon at 07:30 in the morning. Then, it's only €10 to Faro, booked on www.cp.pt, leaving at 08:23 and arriving three hours later, a mere 27 and a half hours after leaving London. You could leave Wednesday or Thursday morning and then arrive either Thursday or Friday before noon. That's one way only, but it does come in under £200 (albeit over €200). It also only allows 71 minutes to cross Paris from Gare du Nord to Montparnasse, which is twenty minutes on the metro. With the immigrant situation at Calais, it might be best to take the 07:01 eurostar rather than the 07:55. It's the same price booked individually as it is all booked together. That way, you have two hours to cross Paris (although it means being at st pancras at half six rather than 25 past seven. Edited by SuperDave84 - 03 Aug 2015 at 11:59pm |

Yeah it doesn't seem a bad spot for a few lads and location wise perfect, the no cancellation is a pain and the money they wanted upfront was unfortunate too, the security deposit is a bit steep too but apart from that I'm happy.

Depends what you're after really. If it's museums, restaurants, airport/stadium proximity and general Portugese-ness, then Faro is definitely your shout. If you're looking for beaches, golf and nightlife with plenty of Irish and other Northern Europeans, Albufeira is as good a bet as any. |
