That’s quality. There’s been a tricolour in the stands last couple of home games. It’s popped up in the highlights.

It's very hard to know how good the standard of football is at a mid table Dutch league but there is some very talented youngsters playing in the Eredivise at the moment and Crowley's stats as a young midfielder are right up there with the best in the league. Obviously stats can be a little deceiving but an attacking midfielders main role is to link play between the defenders and attackers and with five goals and six assists it appears Crowley is well able to do that despite his team lacking a prolific striker. Also, didn't Wales give Matt Smith a debut against us recently? I thought he looked better than all of our midfielders. Smith is playing in the league below Crowley and while it's hard to compare stats between two young players playing at different levels its probably not unreasonable to assume that if Smith is good enough for international football then Crowley might be too. People often suggest that the Dutch Premier division is on par with the SPL (apart from Ajax) but when you look at the standard of young players going out on loan to clubs in Holland then it's clear that top European clubs rate it as a superior league. Frenkie de Jong is off to Barca soon, Martin Odegaard is rebuilding his career there and Borrussia Dortmund have loaned out the highly rated Alexander Isak to Crowley's team. Crowley's paper work should have been sorted for the games at the end of this month, the fact that he won't be available until at least Denmark away in June means there is little chance of him featuring in that game. Perhaps he will be given a chance against Gibraltar at home a few days later.

I see that C*nt Rice has had his transfer approved already, hopefully Crowley's is similarly quicker than we expected.

Won't make much difference. McCarthy not going to see Crowley play until Dutch cup final in early may. Most likely outcome is he gets call up for Portugal training camp end of may.

If Rice's transfer of registration could occur in a matter of days, is there any reason why Crowley's can't ?? Of Bamford for that matter??
Surely Crowley could be named in the squad for Gibraltar and Georgia? The Gib game would be an ideal opportunity to get him integrated into the squad. And we dearly need a player like him.

Dan McDonnell in the Indo earlier saying FIFA were trying to speed up the current applications, hence Rice's going through so fast, so Crowley's may sneak through |

It's possible and fingers crossed. Although in McCarthys interview the other day on Off The Ball, he basically came out and said he'd never heard of him until recently and has never seen him play. Willem II have played two games since then and have 2 more games before the Gibraltar match. Is it realistic that McCarthy would call him into the squad having watched him for only 4 games, even if he had the clearance?

Very surprising. I first heard about Crowley when he was 16. Would Mick not have heard of him signing for Barnsley from Arsenal even?

I'd imagine McCarthy has access to plenty of video if he wants it and maybe scouting reports too, depending. Just because McCarthy wasn't aware of him doesn't mean that someone in the FAI wasn't.
