Would agree - Looks like he has the talent to go all the way to the top and given he is with England now, I'd be very, very surprised if he changed again.

He looks some player, but as milla said he looks to be happy in the England set up

Watched that video this morning, qualifies for Ireland, England and Austrailia, but has only played for ourselves and England underage. He was last in an irish squad in April 12 as far as I can workout. Looks a serious player, I'm sure the FAI are working hard to secure his services

We have to give it a go - didn't Roy speak previously about camping outside Stephen Ireland's house? Well I think it's time Roy got his sleeping bag.
In all seriousness, one of the benefits of having Keane is the respect he harbours in the game (in terms of his playing ability not as a person). Martin and Roy should go a and meet him and his parents, bring them to Dublin as guests. Do you lads not think the FA did the same with the Keane brothers ? It's a competitive area and we need to be robust and pull out the stops, if the lad still wants to play for England after that then good luck to him.

Apparently his family have very strong connections with ireland and he used to play gaa when he was younger so maybe not all hope is lost. Could be another case of where aston villa or arsenal got involved and convinced him to play for england as it benefits them more.

Fairly sure I remember Jack's brother on here saying that he was surprised Crowley declared for England given his connections. Anyway looks like he is gone. Seems to get along well with Wilshere which wont help our cause anyway. Got stretchered off yesterday as I mentioned on the other thread and don't know how long he will be out for.

Nah. Don't see any point in chasing after the lad- not at this stage. Not saying I don't want him either, but let him make his own mind up either way.
There's plenty of stuff happening at grassroots around here in this country- at least a lot more than before and a lot to get excited about too believe me. Plus I'm happy enough with young Jack Grealish anyway.

Couldn't agree more, The lad knows hes good enough and wanted by our youth teams but wants to play for England at least in this point of time. We have plenty of our own talented young lads to look out for like Mc evoy, Byrne, Grealish, O Hanlon, Cleary, Baba and Hoban just to name a few.

He is only just back from injury and has only just been put on the bench for the Arsenal under 18's last couple of games because of that. Maybe that is the reason for not being in the squad? He is definitely good enough to be in it anyway. Haven't seen him play apart from the highlights of a few of the Arsenal under age games that go up on the Arsenal player but since he has went to Arsenal has been the stand out player whether that is playing for the under 18's or 21's according to pretty much every match report.

Looks a very good talent no doubt, but I'd like to see clarity on these types of players at his age to see whether they want to play for us or not.

True, invite him on board again, make him feel special, a central player. I know lots of people will disagree and I won't argue with you but sometimes there are special players that you need to put that bit of extra effort in to get them to play with us rather than England, despite it being just potential. We are not exactly blessed with exceptional talent at the minute and its all part and parcel of the game today. I'm not bothered that he hasn't made his mind up. If he is that good than he has the luxury of the choice and we should be making that choice easier for him. He obviously has affinity for both countries, nothing unusual about that. Who knows maybe he is just saying this to get England scared and get himself promoted to their u21's but nothing ventured nothing gained. Its not worth doing nothing over.

I honestly couldn't give a rats *ss whether he considers himself English, Irish or Chinese, if this kid turns out to be a world class player I'd want him to be in our team. It's all well and good having a team of Paul McShanes who are "proud to be wearing the jersey" etc. etc. but you'll never get anywhere with them. I think we often afford to much importance to patriotism and flag-waving, I'd rather have a team of excellent players who aren't uber-patriotic but  are capable of achieving something than hard triers who invariably come up short. Pragmatism wins things, not misplaced pride and egotism.

The national team program of Ireland needs to be more agressive check how it works with other teams when they are looking for some youngster.  Italy almost got Icardi from Argentina, and Messi could have been playing for Spain due to recidency a fewyears back, an offer came when he was 16.

Eire is losing some genuine youngsters under the english situation,  Gerrard and Rooney could have played for Eire.  Gerrard's cousin appears as irish in wikipedia.

I have no issue with what Crowley is doing. If he feels both English and Irish so be it. I just hope we can convince him that Ireland is the better option.

I know it can hard to judge definitively based on you tube clips, but he looks quality and definitely worth pursuing all the way. We need all the quality we can get. The fact that he has played gaa shows he must have a reasonable amount of affinity for the old sod.

Judging by Flannery's  tweet to him the other day he must of been in his ear about it when he was with the youth teams LOL.

Wilshere seems to have taken him under his wing though which would worry me about him switching back to Ireland.

Would love to see Crowley and Grealish together in the same team. Its quite possible that if one comes on board that the other will follow. Best these things don't surface from papers etc and are kept quite though. Delaney could then harp on about the glorious underage system and the fruit it bears!!!

Exactly, between those two, McCarthy, McGeady, Wilson, Gibson, it will definitely be a ringing endorsement.

It maybe the Daily Mail, but I'd well believe it. He's been omitted from another England squad, crucially this being the start of a campaign. Also uncapped Colback gets call up. He must know it's curtains.

I'd say his plan all along was to wait for this specific squad announcement before committing.

Best of luck to him, an honest enough midfield player who never fulfilled his potential, just keep dreaming for the ise old owl to give you a hoot

Another Jamie O' Hara? Not really. O'Hara's just been released by a Championship side. Noble's a key player for an established Premier League team. If he can strengthen our hand and help us qualify for for a second European Championships in a row, I'm all for it.

Maybe but he isnt injured at the moment so unless it is arsenal who are refusing to let him leave but i dont think that that is the case as there are other arsenal players in the squads. On the england forums they think it is the fa giving him space to let him decide if he wants to play for england or ireland and dont want to make him feel uncomfortable by putting to much pressure on him. They also think that he is considering ireland and the fa dont want to call him up only for him to reject it.

On the england forums they think it is the fa giving him space to let him decide if he wants to play for england or ireland and dont want to make him feel uncomfortable by putting to much pressure on him. They also think that he is considering ireland and the fa dont want to call him up only for him to reject it.

weather he is good enough or not, if one young player like Dan (who looks good enough) joined us it could hopefully swing the tide back this way.

Villa's twitter feed doesn't include him in the squad.

Mixed bag for him in the first half... Pity he is not playing in his more favored central role. Not willing nor quick enough to run past the villa full backs on the counter attack.

Wonder what the story with Stefan O Conner is? Looks a good player- strong.

Only saw the first half. Crowley was fairly quite. Enda Stevens played well enough hopefully he can get a move to a championship side

A little disappointed with that.  Crowley just didn't look interested.

Kevin Toner is irish. Played on the under 19's victory against holland a few days ago. Used to play for Ashbourne Utd.

Surprised there's only 6 pages in here compared to 50+ in the Jack Grealish thread, some people think he's a better prospect than him.

Despite the pessimism in this thread, I'm pretty positive.

Also, apparently he had a meeting with the FAI not too long ago and it went well.

Few my mates have watched Crowley play a number of times they say he class. One of their brothers is mate of Crowley and they tell me he is very proud of his Irish heritage and at the moment he is leaning towards Ireland. As mentioned above he has held talks with the FAI a few months back and they were suppose to be positive talk but what that really means about him returning to us I don't know. I think O Neill should go have a look at him and have a quiet word. The English FA are doing everything they can to hold on to him, even the English senior manager had a few words with Crowley a few weeks back and he really looks up to jack Wilshere. I be very disappointed if we missed out on this lad because he is has great potential and really is passionate about Ireland
