Why would the FAI go through with this process and the expenses involved for a player who may never play for Ireland?

It's more the principle of the ruling that's important than one individual player. If the ruling goes against us it significantly reduces our access to players who qualify through grandparents. It would also mean that Callum Robinson is actually ineligible to play for us.

Nothing has been said, so we don't know. If he is deemed ineligible, it really is something the FAI need to take to CAS. Not only is it incredibly unfair and contrary to the spirit of international football, but it could have serious consequences for our team going forward.
We're decent enough..

Played 90 mins for birmingham today and looked good. 

What's the story with him? I was of the understanding that he doesnt qualify for us after the ryan Johansson saga? Any confirmation on this yet?

He played for our u17s but so did Johansson. I'm pretty sure he's only just got his passport recently.
