I'd suspect the combination of anti eviction types, and right wingers. The anti eviction movement that sprung up after the 2008 crash was a catalyst in the development  of a noticeable, active and public far-right in Ireland. The far right's agenda has moved towards anti immigration and covid, but their historic interest was evictions and repossession. 

The anti-eviction movement, at the time it came to prominence, was laced with rabble rousing nationalism,  anglophobia, and bogus comparisons between lawful repossession on foot of court orders, and historic land confiscation in Ireland. That, and an effort to discredit 'official Ireland'. It was also quite conflicted as many of the people involved were mired in debt themselves, but with no intention of paying it off. So their last resort was to try and obstruct the process in Courts around the county. That was until what happened in Strokestown in 2018 when those involved resorted to unpardonable violence and intimidation.

I don't know to be honest, I have seen it mentioned many times, with some people being identified as Loyalists from Belfast.

It was known that the security firm and some of the security personnel were from Antrim.

No Irish taxpayer bailed out KBC.

These guys cost everyone else a fortune in added interest rates.

They have essentially rendered the legal system unusable.

Heroes they are not.

The sentences are a reflection of the non recognition and contempt of the court they have shown.

I suspect they wholeheartedly believe they are political prisoners. Plenty of narrative flying around absolving them, due to the alleged nature and leanings of the security agents that repossessed the property in the first place.

There's a fella that was killed a few days ago in Cork by a farmer. Hasn't been reported. Very strange. Both arms and legs were broken before death.
