I'd be happy to make changes. We could make a quad colour and add a second orange strip to the front of the flag because obviously the current flag doesn't represent protestants in any way. We could throw a red hand of ulster on it too because that's not an Irish symbol or anything.

I'd even agree to playing a second national anthem like the rugby. Maybe something along the lines of "simply the best" by Tina Turner.

With Scotland very likely to gain independence at some point. And once Scotland leaves and if economically things improved a lot, the Welsh would probably do the same.

Would it still be called Britain if it was only Wales, England and Northern Ireland? Would the flag need to be changed.

I think we should definitely have the discusion now but that the right time for a border poll should should after Scottish get their independence, it will completely change the dynamics for the rest of the union. If Scotland and Ireland are in the EU but North not I think it puts them further as an outlier and really becomes a topic of is it viable for them to continue on their own relying on England versus coming back into a union with Ireland and rejoining the EU or going it alone as a separate country entirely.

If they are a separate country on their own but part of the EU then there is no real border anyway and maybe the solution that fits all.

I think people are overestimating Scotland leaving.

Support for independence has jumped to 40% and was probably under 15% previously. If people can see an upturn in their pockets they will change their tune.

Exactly, the experiment of a new anthem has been tried and clearly failed. No need to change anything.

LOL

Seriously though, there would have to be a new anthem and flag.

Change the flag?

What else would you do?

Before someone comes back and says our flag already recognises all parts of the Ireland, maybe it does but people very well know that some people up north would still be uncomfortable with it.

There has been a massive shift in that lately. I wouldn't rule it out at all. If Scotland and NI are gone, then sentiment will definitely change.

Yep and Brexit has influenced how many people think about independence now.
30% of Welsh claim to speak their own language while 15% say they speak it every day. Plaid Cymru got nearly 20% of the seats in the last election. The party is growing and with Brexit will continue to grow.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
