He signed a contract, was dumped, and is being paid out. Normal procedure. You're more or less extrapolating the rest - avarice, entitlement, laziness, boorishness, coasting on past achievements etc. He has the highest possible UEFA coaching badge and has picked up some experience along the way. So why would you deny him his shot at management when he seems to have earned, at the very least, a shot at it?

McCarthy had a contract until EURO 2020. Keane got 4 year until 2022. So assume the contract has now expired or latest end of this year?

What about Roy Keanes salary when he was assistant manager (€600k) and the massive pay off he and O'Neill took when they were sacked(€2m)? Had the FAI not been broke, they'd have paid Robbie off in a lump sum like any of the others and that would have been the end of that and nobody would have been any wiser.

I don't have a problem with Robbie getting paid off, as all coaches and managers do when they're let go. My issue is with him foisting himself into a job when neither the sitting manager, or the lad who was contracted to succeed him, wanted him.
It's real old gombeen Ireland stuff the way he got that job for himself. As for Andrews, I don't particularly rate him as a coach either but he was wanted by the manager, which has to count for something, and he doesn't sound vapid as a pundit either. And that's all I can really go by. Robbie doesn't come across like he has a great mind for the game. Not all great players translate into great coaches or managers. He'd be better off going into politics or working in the civil service here TBH.

Thought he was terrible. Not very interesting at all or maybe he's a very reserved person.

Have watched this a few times but just checking
Is the idea of this show that Tommy doesn’t know what guests are coming on? If so are there many come on who he doesn’t know

Normally like Tiernans show and always thought Roy would be a good guest on it but it wasn't a good interview at all.

Yeah sometimes there are people he doesn’t have a clue who they are and it’s likely the viewers don’t also. It’s like two people who just get chatting in a pub. It usually works really well but Keane for some reason went on with the idea of not to saying like the Irish Republican on Mastermind

I haven't seen the interview yet but what were people expecting him to say? We know Roy and anyway we know most of his stories. He was hardly likely to start talking about what he got up to on his honeymoon.
