I don't have a problem with Robbie getting paid off, as all coaches and managers do when they're let go. My issue is with him foisting himself into a job when neither the sitting manager, or the lad who was contracted to succeed him, wanted him.

It's real old gombeen Ireland stuff the way he got that job for himself.

As for Andrews, I don't particularly rate him as a coach either but he was wanted by the manager, which has to count for something, and he doesn't sound vapid as a pundit either. And that's all I can really go by. Robbie doesn't come across like he has a great mind for the game. Not all great players translate into great coaches or managers.

He'd be better off going into politics or working in the civil service here TBH.

I have no hate for him at all, great goalscorer, LFC fan (where he was harshly treated), but I do have some regard for HH's view in this particular instance. His 500k annual salary for doing nothing (whether or not that is the FAI's fault) leaves a little bit of a sour taste!

What about Roy Keanes salary when he was assistant manager (€600k) and the massive pay off he and O'Neill took when they were sacked(€2m)?

Had the FAI not been broke, they'd have paid Robbie off in a lump sum like any of the others and that would have been the end of that and nobody would have been any wiser.

McCarthy had a contract until EURO 2020. Keane got 4 year until 2022. So assume the contract has now expired or latest end of this year?

Got an assistant manager role at Middlesbrough basically he's mates with Jonathan Woodgate, despite being uniformly unqualified for a role at that level. Mick McCarthy literally stated that he was foisted into his managerial setup and is still? getting paid handsomely to do nothing under the Kenny regime. The point of contention for me isn't that Keane is still being paid the terms of his contract - I understand if the FAI was stupid enough to give him a role he wasn't qualified, or wanted, for - it's that he essentially inserted himself into the role through entitlement and is now holding a financially bereft organisation random after the natural order of events takes course. I don't expect him to do the honourable thing and walk away, accept a cut in pay, or give a large % of it to charity. That's fine. I'm a frugal guy and like money as well. But he sure has lost a large amount of respect and, frankly, deserves to become a laughing stock because of his avarice, entitlement, laziness and boorishness.

He should ring Mark Kennedy, Jim Goodwin and Brian Barry-Murphy and get tips on what to do to make himself an attractive proposition for owners at League Two level looking for an ambitious and hungry manager who wants to work his way up the football pyramid through merit.

But he thinks he can still coast on 68 goals at senior Intl level when it has absolutely no relevance to the world of coaching, ideas, management or tactics.
He signed a contract, was dumped, and is being paid out. Normal procedure. You're more or less extrapolating the rest - avarice, entitlement, laziness, boorishness, coasting on past achievements etc. He has the highest possible UEFA coaching badge and has picked up some experience along the way. So why would you deny him his shot at management when he seems to have earned, at the very least, a shot at it?

How long has he got left on his FAI contract ?
Sure it finished earlier this year didn’t it?

They're only after getting a former Olympiakos manager who was linked with the Wolves job and Robbie thinks he could be in the frame. His delusion really is something else.

He played 326 league games, looks like someone only read the summary on his wikipedia page
