Did you head into Foley's on 34th Street? Right opposite Empire State building. |

I was in the Tavern on 54th St and left at half time, and went to the Pig and Whistle for the 2nd half. Nothing was doing in both boozers. |

Thats a good spot but easy missed it has a tiny front to the pub. Up the street towards MSG there is a big sports bar called Stout, about 10 massive tvs and will have all sports on. Just realised that info is a waste now,ye back home Edited by rossieman - 16 Oct 2017 at 10:53am |

Foley's on 34th Street I'm actually in NY in November when the play-offs are on. Was going to head to the Pig N Whistle. Is Foleys or the Stout decent spots?

I was in Stout a few years ago for one of the big six nations games and they opened up a fuction room especially for the match.I think they do it for most big Irish games. Place was packed out but had 4 or 5 tvs and a huge projector screen. Go in to both the day before and suss them out.Stout is massive compared to Foleys. Coukd always tip out to Yonkers/Woodlawn and watch it there.Huge Irish community there. |

Finally going to go this year, booked as last leg of honeymoon. What's a good 4 day itinerary for a first timer?

As recommended by people on here:
Staten Island ferry, that island where they registered all the immigrants, Walk/Cycle round Central Park. Underground over to Brooklyn and walk back via the bridge. Great for the hangover. World trade Centre memorial / ground Zero Top of the rockerfeller centre rather than Empire State. Less Q’s and you can have a drink. Standard hotel in the meatpacking district - Stunning views. The Highline for a walk. Great for the hangover. Go to a comedy club / show on broadway / MSG for a game Take a tour of Harlem taking in a Gospel choir |

Ive heard the high line walk isn’t great
If you’re going with a woman take her out on the rowing boats in Central Park, something a bit different to cycling or walking, very good value for money 20 dollars for an hour and some great views, although depends on the weather I suppose Edited by Roberto Baggio - 14 Jan 2018 at 11:35am |

Highline was sh*te, didn't help that I was in a jocker.
The Intrepid Museum was excellent. Hop on\off bus is great as you get to see a lot of the city. The Staten Island ferry is free, if you are going over, might as well go and visit the Irish Hunger Memorial in Battery Park. Edited by horsebox - 14 Jan 2018 at 11:50am |

I'm being lazy here but in case the guts of the thread is out of date can anyone recommend a nice hotel (priced accordingly) close enough to times square? Middle of the road type - 3/4 star job
Going for first time in May!

I nearly always stay in the Stanford on 43 W 32nd St Literally 2 minutes away from Macy's, within a stones throw of The Empire State Building and a 10 minute walk to Times Square.
