not a hope in hell of this happening as far as keane is concerned. fellas supported him in saipan , they are not going to criticise him now for not wanting 4-3-3

Lots of concerns over o Neill and fitness at Sunderland. Won't be as much of an issue at international level, only when we qualify. But we have appointed the former Irish rugby fitness coach. Seems well regarded. Fitness should not be an issue.
was this just from Di Canio?

I do not think given the time frames involved, we should eb running players into the ground when on international duty. I think before the euros they were over trained, and it showed in Poland.

Well Jonathon Wilson who is a very respected journalist and knows that area very well re-confirmed it was an issue on the Second Captains Podcast with the IRish Times.

As I said in my original post, it is less of an issue around the international team.  Really would only manifest itself if he was using outdated methods around fitness at a major championship but with Keane and the ex Irish rugby fitness guy onboard that should resolve those areas.

Fitness is not always about running players into the ground.   Maybe the issue is they do not have the right levels of fitness.   Fitness has moved beyond running players into the ground and possibly the criticism of O Neill was that he did not move with the times in that regard.  Accusations of fitness levels does not necessarily suggest that the alternative or response has to be more running. It could be less or different types of fitness levels.  I am sure Green Devil

By the way we really need to get into an area where we can support an appointment but also raise and discuss potential issues and not have this sort of binary argument where people put themselves in the Pro O'Neill/Keane  and only see the good and those in the opposite camp who only see the bad.

They certainly were overtrained in Poland. It reminded me of England under Capello at the 2010 world cup.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

I agree roger think my post suggested that. Only an issue around major tournaments. Criticism of o Neill was his methods were oufdzted, mobile phones, fitness levels etc.

Good that we will have Keane and also a fitness coach with huge experience which can advise that less is more etc.

its up to their clubs to have them fit , jaysis if we are bringing them over from their club to make them fit then leave the fat fcukers over there LOL

our fitness coaches should be preparing them for the particular game or for the role the manager requires of them in the game.

LOL Been thinking this myself alright! Inventing a job role or what.  Surely a normal coach/1st team coach can work on set pieces as well as the remainder of the coaching role.
