O'Neill already imbuing his new side with the same positivity and self-belief we saw with Ireland.

Forest like relegation fodder

Martin O'Neill admits that his Nottingham Forest side are looking more like a team headed for relegation than one chasing promotion.

Saturday's 2-0 loss to Birmingham City, the second defeat in O'Neill's three-game spell as Forest boss, saw the club slide to 12th in the Championship table and they are now seven points off the playoff places.

"As a club, apparently we have not won back-to-back games since September time - and that is something that we have got to iron out," said O'Neill.

"That is probably not even good enough for a relegation side, never mind a side that is trying to win promotion."

From their forum there are complaints about the style of play and leaving creative players on the bench.  Apart from a few who think MON is useless most of them are still sussing him out and willing to give him slack for now and saying he needs to get to know the players.  Most still pine for Aytor Karanka and wished he had stayed.  From what I have read they played utter hoofball to Murphy against Birmingham last Saturday and tried to use a physical approach (Scotland away amongst many more examples).

Looking forward to seeing this car crash being played out.  Keane being there is just fantastic. The perfect stormLOL

If it's like that during "the bounce", what will it be like when normal service resumes?

Come to think of it, normal service has resumed.

Hi Uwally.

MON is a dinosaur.  His team had 38% possession tonight.  He has only had 2 wins in his reign so far.  Karnaka had them in the top 6.

Up and at em football from Radioactive Man.

What relevance has possession when a side won the game though?

O'Neill has 3 wins Wigan, Brentford and Derby.

I heard tonight that they hadn't kept two clean sheets in a row since November either.

Forest weren't in the top 6 either when Karanka left.

Now, I am no fan of Martin O'Neill but if you're going to beat someone with a stick at least have the correct information.

Not much intelligence in Offaly then?
Hurt? No.  MON and his team have no tactical awareness.  They are going nowhere.  38% possession and backs to the wall hoofball counterattacks.

MON's plan:   Defend to the hilt
Try to nick a goal hoofing it up to a big man up front

I'd love to see him playing that stuff in the Premier League

Burnley have done ok playing like that mind.

Stoke abandoned hoofball and tried to alter their playing style, yet look what happened them. (PL era)

I think O'Neill is just in there to galvanize the place (in the short term), it's hard to see him being there for the next 3 to 4 seasons and building a legacy per say.

Ah well just as well that win didn't clinch them promotion now.

There is nothing weird about my obsession to see the evil Martin O'Neill brought to justice for his crimes against football and causing football fans to develop a hatred for their eyesight.

His football belongs in Chernobyl.  Radioactive poison from 1986 that needs to be contained in an exclusion zone.
