Keane's only stock is in shock jock punditry. He wss a busted flush in managerial terms long before he got this role and no one will touch him after. Loads of stories of similar behaviour to the Arter/Walters stuff doing the rounds long before Ward spilled his guts. Keane is damaged goods, it's farcical he's pulling such a huge salary for bringing nothing to the table here.

He's getting paid the same as Ronald Koeman (600k pa as per page 5 of the DEN/IRL match prediction thread), yet look at the job he's doing with Holland. Sickening stuff. Angry

And the money going to O'Neill is off the wall relative to our population size and lack of success over the last decade or more.

Delaney has some explaining to do as to why we are paying €3m a year to a useless management team.

Agree one million percent. His key skill is supposed to be as a motivator. Does that Irish team look motivated to you? It must be one of the least motivated national sides in Europe at the moment.

someone said earlier that O'Neills contract runs to the end of 2020.
So if we have a terrible 2019 and don't qualify for the Euros does that mean he'll still have to stick around for the next nations league? That would be utterly pointless.

It seems MON believes we have underperformed in 2018. Bit of an understatement. He has also stated that it would be nice to score a goal. The 4th highest paid manager in International football ladies and gentlemen. His ambition- for his team to score a goal. How long do we have to put up with this joker. I am genuinely considering not going back to the Aviva until he is replaced-as awful as that sounds. Sometimes you have to vote with your feet.
Walters coming back from an offside position but Shane Long was definitely onside- Shane Lonnggggggg.... has done it!!!!

I am assume the identity of a smug rugby fan for this post.

Can you imagine Joe Schmidt turning up for internationals and uaing no video or tactics amd picking the team an hour before kick off and telling the media there is no time to work on line outs or other stuff because ah sure at the end ofbthe day they are pro rugby players and should know what to do at this stage. "Lds one of ye throw the ball in and one of ye catch it ta f**k."
"But Joe what about working on a system so we know who will throw it to whom?"
"Ah dont nind that sh*te. I saw that film Old Mr Chips and the aul rugby coach disnt do any of that stuff and sure they won every f**king game".

hes digging his heels in because theres no job in England available to him,I listened to himself and keane do commentary work the last couple of years and criticise this and that,it just shows its all hot air. This squad at the moment look clueless to what hes trying to get them to implement on the field and worse still not one of them look motivated for them.his tactics and team selections are baffling, and naming teams an hour before kick off is ridiculous, there professional players they should be told the day before at least with clear instructions what is expected of them.

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill has dismissed as "lunacy" suggestions he should have capped Declan Rice in a World Cup qualifier against Moldova 13 months ago to tie him to the country.

Speaking before Monday's final Nations League game in Denmark, O'Neill defended his handling of the Rice saga.

"To think about putting him [Rice] on for a couple of minutes just to cap him is crazy," said the Republic boss. I find it incredible to think that I should be thinking about that [capping Rice] during a game where we are fighting for our lives and trying to win at home,"

No Martin what is lunacy is paying you 2 million a year considering the sh*te we have had to put up with. That is real lunacy.

If he gets us at least a playoff then he deserves another campaign.

Maybe I’m being over optimistic (and trying to find some logic as to why he hasn’t been sacked yet) ...but I think he’ll be gone soon. After the draw or early January.

Considering low revenues due to less competitive games a Payoff now will make the fai accounts for 2018 look as bad as our team.

A payout over 2019 and 2020 won’t look as bad in the books when euro 2020 €€s are considered.
