This is just tired.

I'd like to see him given a run but today's game seems a big ask.
Maybe get him some minutes in the NL matches after today.

We can't look past the fact he's playing at a low level compared to almost the entirely of the rest of the squad and until that changes, he's a risk.

That has to change.

Thing is so many of our lads looked like fishes out of water on the ball against Bulgaria and Finland it was an effort to even control and pass it . The one thing that stands out about Byrne is wether it’s Bohs Dundalk New Zealand Bulgaria or AC Milan one thing stands out and that is how comfortable he is on the ball. It’s absolute 2nd nature to him and I remember Hoolahan when he’d come in and do the very bare minimum basics of show quality/composure on the ball it would rub off on those around him too.

Would love to see Jack get on against Slovakia and show the blinkered EPL lemmings what he can do, irrespective of the opposition he faces. My head says he'll be an unused substitute. His time will come sooner rather than later anyway.
Kenny is in a bit of a bind in terms of what he should do for this game,.
If he plays open expansive football we will get beaten quite handily, but we can't surely continue to rely on a Duffy set piece goal as our only offensive option.
Hopefully mcgoldrick will do his thing for us, he seems an honest genuine guy.

Bournemouth would be a good move if he actually plays. They have an ethos that suits him. He liked Holland so I’m surprised another option hasn’t turned up there.

MLS is also not the worst option. Decent enough pay and high standard of facilities (if not football). Could work out well for him, get him playing regularly.

He's already playing regularly at a decent level, not convinced the MLS would be a massive step up standard wise.
MLS is absolutely miles above the LoI. They’re really not even comparable.

Would there be much difference in Gonzalo Higuain and Andre Wright?

MLS would be broadly similar to Championship and league 1 so a big step up from the LoI.

Probably would be in terms of facilities and compensation.

I’m not against him staying at shamrock rovers by any means, as long as it’s the best preparation for the national team.

EPL and championship clubs watch every league and could have picked him up for small money.  The fact that they haven’t suggests that he is not at that level consistently or doesn’t have the necessary physicality.  However, he is still worth having in the Ireland squad because he can do something different.  We are very short on creativity.

Jack is well aware that he's never had so much "heat". He probably won't be in this position again and knows full well that his next move is probably the most important move he'll ever make in his career.

So I wouldn't discount the fact that Jack is the one who was delayed a move and not necessarily a case that there hasn't been offers.

If I were Jack I wouldn't want to be going to a club who's "willing to take a punt on me". Jack needs to know exactly what he's getting himself in for. There's no point going to a club that's going to pay him lip service about being a number 10, and then after a couple of bad results the team resorts to hoof ball and Jack ends up on the wing (like a lot of number 10's tend to do) being ineffective. Then the narrative turns to... "that Jack Byrne is a bit sh*t."

He'll probably get another chance at a higher level. Clubs would be "taking a punt' - he has a bit of history and his options will reflect it.  If he's good enough and he's disciplined he'll have a good outcome. Or he might just want to stay in Dublin. Fine, but that seriously impacts his international hopes.

Hasnt done him any harm up to now.
He has one cap - off the bench in a meaningless friendly.

2 caps and been picked in squads. Dont remember him being in squads before his return or any caps.
