Hope he doesn't retire for another year or two, United will go downhill without him.

I don't think Utd will go downhill, or at least downhill rapidly, when Ferguson goes. Too many quality players there and especially if was to be Mourinho, who knows? They could get even better.

Ogden will be banned from many more press conferences if this is untrue.

Ferguson should retire and go to Liverpool....at least he would bring them out of the 1980s and teach them how a real and proper winning football team should play...

Surely Liverpool are looking for someone to take them back to the 1980s? Getting out of the 1980s was what made everything go wrong in the first place.

'Ferguson retires from Manchester United after 27 yrs' --
reports the Daily Telegraph's Mark Ogden. Last updated at
23:07 GMT
Alex Ferguson is to sensationally retire from football management tomorrow at a 2 pm scheduled news conference at Old Trafford after offering up his resignation to Manchester United owners the Glazer family. It is understood the Glazers met with the Scot after Sunday's game with Chelsea and discussed Ferguson future in the club and talked at length about future plans, signings and how to turn the Manchester side into a Champions League winning force. At the end of the meeting Ferguson is said to have informed the Glazers that he wanted to discuss the matter with his family before making any decision on his future and would let them know within a a few days. Last night the Daily Telegraph learned that ferguson met with his family on Tuesday night and discussed in great length his future in football management with United. A family member has told us that his wife Cathy wanted Sir Alex to stand down and spend time with his grandkids and family and outlayed her fears to him about the pressures and constant strain management was putting him under. Also in a bizarre twist the Daily telegraph has learned that Ferguson informed the Glazers late on Tuesday night about his decision to step down while urging them to employ former captain Roy Keane as manager for the forthcoming season. It has gone unreported how this news was met by the Glazer family but would no doubt not go down too well amongst United faithful. It is believed Ferguson spoke to Keane via mobile phone on Tuesday and informed him of his retirement plans and to discuss the possibility of hm taking over the helm at Old Trafford. We contacted Michael Kennedy, Keane's long time solicitor and agent who did not want to comment but said things will become apparent within the next 24 hours. |
