Good stuff. You'd get the start on a building site with that sort of experience these days!

Looking to get the main bathroom renovated - everything removed and the bath replaced with a walk in shower.

How much you talking for something like this? and anyone in DNS get this done recently - could do with some recommendations.

Did similar about 2 years ago. Was 8k all in with some mates rates built in. High end specs. About 8 or 9m2 floor area. Full wall and floor tiles. Electrical work for a fan and mirror with led lighting. Slate floor for shower.

Could be anything up to 14k I'd guess now. Some quotes from specialist companies were off the scale.

Not really - but the Mrs wants to do it up and I agree with her.

The place is a mess at the moment. I wouldn't want to be spending 20k to be honest but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the cost.

Just prior to COVID striking I decided to do up the bathroom so got a few quotes. Based on other bits and pieces I got done I budgeted ā‚¬4k which I had saved up. Cheapest Quote was ā‚¬8k and he didn't fill me with any confidence whatsoever. Decided against getting it done and instead freshened it up myself. Couple of coats of paint, new lighting, mirror, lino on the floor and a few little cabinets and shelving units. Kept the original sanitary ware and scrubbed it like new. All done for under ā‚¬500.

Looking to kinda convert it into like a wet room, the bath will go, and we will need a walk in shower etc...

I did the bathroom when I moved in the last time with the old man - 15 years ago now. But this is beyond my pay grade.

Don't mention wet room to anyone pricing it as thousands will go on to the price straight away HB.

A low profile shower tray does the exact same job.
l hear you are a racist now, father ?

At the moment it's kinda of a wet room, in the kind that my son walks in there at night, phone in land, light off and just pisses where he wants.

I agree with this. The idea of a wet room won't work on upper floors and my guy hated the very word.

Our shower unit runs the length of the room and is raised about half an inch above the tiling. Not noticeable and actually provides a nice contrast by highlighting the expensive slate.

Wet rooms only make sense for people with mobility issues and want to remove trip hazards and struggle to get upstairs.
