Was a good player before the injury, hopefully Trap will try him, Wilson, McCarthy before naming squad for Euro's

no chance for Euro's, not because of his skill but who would Trap drop?

The same case could be made for Houlihan et al...

Disagree, but very much dependent on his ability to get back into the Sunderland first team, rediscover his pre-injury form, and stay fit. Not much to do then. A fully fit Myler would be an ideal Trap type midfielder, a physical midfielder, who can put in strong tackles, and run all day long. It would be Gibson's place (or possibly McCarthy's) that would be the most vulnerable.

Hoolahan is a totally different type player, a ball playing midfielder who links with the front men. This is the role Trap has stated that he sees McCarthy in, and given his general aversion to these type players, I think it will take a midfield injury crisis for both to be named in the squad, if Hoolahan makes it, it will most likely be at McCarthy's expense.

Of all the players currently outside, or on the fringes of the squad, I think Meyler has the best chance of making it, provided what I outlined above happens, which is a fairly big ask to be honest, but other midfielders being injured could also provide him or Hoolahan with a chance.

It will be interesting to see if MON gives Davey a chance as the Derry man watched him have a cracking game for the reserves this week.

So he kept me soul for ransom.

I read an interview by Niall Quinn this week where he said the coaching staff at sunderland reckon James McClean is a great outside bet for the euro squad. He must be close to debut been on bench few times

Good to see Davey run from the dugout to nearly the corner flag to celebrate Seb Larssons winner on Sunday.
