Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has praised David Meyler for his attitude while battling back from injury but insists 'the gloves are off' now he is fit.

Davey did not feature for the reserves last night would suggest he is seen as a  first team squad member again.

If he stays injury free & is playing well week in week out for Sunderland , surely Trap will give him a chance & tbh if we do beat Estonia i think we would be silly not to bring him to the Euro's given our centre midfield problems.....

thanks for the updates lads.

He's only back from two serious injuries and he should be making the Euro's. He's lucky to be playing at all. Let him concentrate on breaking back into the Sunderland first team

I think he would be very much a Trap type midfielder, a strong physical presence who can run for 90 mins. Of those players currently outside of the squad, I would go as far as saying he has the best chance of being called up, providing he gets game time with Sunderland, proves his injuries are behind him over the course of the season, and recaptures the form he had pre injury. That is presuming a lot, but he has the advantage of playing in the position where Ireland are their weakest, which should increase his chances.

Deffo a Trap style centre mid
Strong, good at breaking up play and keeps it simple
A good 2nd half if the season could push him into Traps plans
Fully fit he would improve the team never mind the squad

I get annoyed at paying €1.05 for a can of coke when it is 99c everywhere else... it's not the six cent, it's all the six cents.
