In the episode 'To Hull and Back' Del has a cup of tea with Slater in Sid's Cafe who goes on to question him about a courier for Abdul and Boycie's diamond smuggling.  As soon as Slater and Terry leave the cafe del calls Boycie on the public phone to warn him that Slater is onto them.  Boycie tells him it's too late to back out as all the arrangements have been made. Boycie wants a meeting in private with Del and Abdul.  They suggest the Nags Head but quickly rule it out as it will be under surveillance. Del Boy tells Boycie he knows just the place. Boycie says ''where?'' upon where Del Boy says nothing and taps the side of his nose smugly. How is Boycie supposed to see that? To him all he would have heard was silence the other end.

How do they not see it when they search the place? Then when they go back to the Police Station, Slater says the Trotters can hasn't been seen in days.

Slater must be blind or thick.  Also when they check the lorry they don't bother to check under the blanket that Del boy is hiding under. Also does the smell of his cigar not give it away since he was smoking it 1 minute earlier?

I might be out of my element here as I haven't seen that episode in years but would Slater not want Del to go through with the caper as he is going to fleece him at the end? So it wouldn't have been in Slaters interests to nick the lads too soon as he wanted them to go through with the deal

Good point but doesn't explain why the other coppers missed the Trotters van
