Muhammad Ali:Fifteen rounds in the wilderness by Dave Hannigan.  Covers Ali’s public life between  retirement and lighting the Olympic flame in Atlanta.  Really interesting insight into Ali the man and the uniqueness of his fame.

Hannigan’s other two books on Ali are class as well. Especially The Big Fight on the time Ali fought in Dublin.

Formative book for me. One of the first adult books I started reading. Been ages since I read a Bukowski book but nothing compared to this one TBH. Very poignant and relatable stuff mixed in with some absolute filth that had me in stitches.

Really good book and the show is a really faithful adaptation. Well worth a read and watch.

Baltimore is really messed up place - although the aquarium is very good and nice area around the waterfront.

Currently 6% into LAbyrinth: A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G.

So far, it's giving a rundown of the history of the LAPD and the division on racial lines within the department leading into the Rodney King riots and OJ Simpson acquittal, which formed a backdrop to the murders of west coast rapper Tupac in Las Vegas, and east coast rapper Notorious B.I.G. in LA.

Very interesting stuff so far, and that's before the Tupac/Biggie feud and the involvement of Suge Knight and the Tupac-affiliated Bloods and the Biggie-affiliated Crips come into the equation.

Different Seasons by Stephen King is one euro on Kindle. Has Apt Pupil, Stand By Me and The Shawshank Redemption.

Currently reading Total Recall by Arnold Schwarzenegger. I'm up to the part where he's doing the documentary that made him a breakout star, "Pumping Iron". It's engrossing. Can't wait for the parts about Terminator and all the other iconic movies he's been in. His dedication to achieving what he has is something else. To the point where he skipped out on his brother and father's funerals; indeed, his emotional detachment in regards to what should've been formative moments in his life is something else. He also has a way of making the sports of bodybuilding and weightlifting sound really interesting. Wish I was reading this when I was in my twenties and still lifting. My neck and back mightn't be so gicked if I did.

Night Shift by Stephen King

Just started Jerusalem's Lot, the first of twenty short stories in this collection. Set in the mid-1800s and written in epistolary form, that is in the form of a series of letters, it's absolutely dripping with atmosphere and foreboding. King can get on my tits but I can't wait to see where this one goes, and since it's a short story, his excesses are reined in and there's none of the bloat you get with some of his longer novels.
