Yeah there's pros and cons from it going from far left to far right. There's more freedom of speech but there's also a lot more fake news. A good counter to that is the community notes but they'll only target viral posts.

And my point is, it’s probably more straightforward. The algorithm doesn’t know your views or persuasion. It’s works on repetition. Unless you are diligent in trying to block content, you can fall into the trap of watching accounts that you don’t like.  One goes to them almost reactively.

Does this happen on the 'following' tab?

You should only see people you are following, some content that they retweet from accounts you don't follow, and some sh*tty ads. 

You should not see random tweets from accounts you don't follow, unless someone you are following is pushing said content. That's my understanding anyway

One can also mute words, block content etc

But do you keep scrolling, which generates similar videos and content? It’s easy to fall into a spiral of scrolling especially when what you’re seeing boils your blood.
