Last time they played in Rome was against Norway in 2015 since then it's been

Bologna,Udine,Verona, Bari, Turin, Milan, Palermo,Udine (again), Reggina, Turin (again). You'd have to imagine Rome would be on that list of venues

No game in Florence either ? That'll be in the running as well you'd have to think

True haven't played there since Malta in Sept 2015

Last time time they were involved in a playoff it was Naples

If they got us I wouldn't be surprised if it was played on Sardinia.

Trastevere has great restaurants, make sure to visit Pizzeria Dar Poeta.

Elastic waisted clothes are at must cos the food is only to die for.
A comfortable pair of shoes / trainers.

There's a metro opp the Colosseum so start there and onto the
Romans forum which is nearby. Then Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II. All are on the same stretch of road.

The Pantheon, Spanish steps, trevi fountain and Piazza Navona and the Vatican.
There's an Irish bar across from Monumento a Vittorio, called Scholars.

This - there really is something to see everywhere. Came across the spot where Caesar was assassinated by accident as well as God knows how many little churches with Rennaissance paintings. Book online for Colloseum, Vatican, etc. Some of the ticket queues are mental. Worth paying little extra for guided  tour of Colloseum.

And the food..

If you are interested you should go to The Forum, just across the road for the Colosseum.

Take a stroll through the city at sunset up around piazzas del popolo and navona.

Take a boat trip in the Villa Borghese gardens.

Take the tram to Trastevere. Nice spot and lovely eateries. Very bohemian (sic) and arty district.

All quite touristy things but when in Rome......

Go and see the Colosseum but do NOT get a photo taken with the lads dressed as Centurians/Gladiators outside.
We did last year, using my own camera, it took about 30 seconds, I went to hand him a few quid and he said "there are 4 of you...at €10 each that is €40!!!!
I had a huge row with him, I threw €4 in coin on the ground and stormed off, he followed me, the wife and 2 young kids spitting at me and calling me a pig.
When we got home I emailed the Rome/Italian tourist boards, the Rome police (who did email me back and said they would look into it) and the Irish Embassy (who said "we hope it didn't spoil your stay, but as you have already contacted the local police we will leave it at that - i.e. do sweet FA about it).
