Strange one, as he apparently still has a 6 game touchline ban to serve. No doubt Strachan had a big sway in getting him in. Hopefully he doesnt get off to a good start on Sunday.

Not that surprising. Two strong personalities. Hopefully Aberdeen's form picks up. At least St Mirren's form isn't any better.

Aberdeen finish 10th
Worst since 2004 They are in a state, Goodwin has a real job to do there - he was better off staying with St Mirren |

I wonder if the Dundee United and Hibs fans get the same flack from the media after disrespecting the Queen as Celtic supporters did?

What was Rangers beef with this?
Scottish Premiership clubs have approved a proposed new five-year £150m broadcasting deal with Sky Sports. Rangers made clear their opposition to the proposed contract while Livingston were understood to have reservations. But a meeting scheduled for Tuesday to resolve issues has been cancelled after the SPFL notified clubs on Monday that an agreement has been reached. The deal, which would see clubs receive around £30m a season, is scheduled to begin in 2024 and would run until 2029. The SPFL are now in a position to try to finalise details with Sky. All lower-league clubs are believed to have indicated their support for the new live broadcast deal, which would allow Sky to show 60 games per campaign. The current Sky contract allows the broadcaster to show up to 48 matches per season and is due to expire in 2025. |

They thought that the deal had undervalued the league and were comparing the deal with the Swedish and Belgium TV deals. Both of those deals are for more money but they show a lot more games (200 - 300 per season compared to 60). The smaller clubs weren't interested in having their games shown on TV because they thought it would affect their season ticket sales and attendances. I don't know how they got sevco and Livingston on board in the end.

In the wider sense, this illustrates the sheer lunacy by which Scottish club football is run (or the SPL at least). For if you look at eg the EPL, for any major vote to pass, it only needs a 2/3rds majority = 14 votes. Which means that even the (so-called) Big Six cannot block something if the rest are all for it. Whereas with the SPL a change needs 11 votes to pass. In other words, so long as the two Ugly Sisters are happy with the staus quo - and unsurprisingly they generally are - then nothing changes. Of course, we have here an unusaal example of something where they do disagree. In which case, one can only wonder what inducements RFC were offering to Livii to join them in blocking the deal, and what pressure the other clubs were able to bring to bear to get them to stay in the fold with the rest of the
